What is the best way to save money for a big investment ?

Whats thev best way to save money for a big investment like a house down payment. Any useful ways of saying money so i dont spend it as soon as i get my pay check ?|||The best way is to pay yourself first. Decide how much you want to save from each paycheck and put it into the bank first, then live on what is left.

An amusing book on investing for a novice is The Richest Man in Babylon.

It's worth waiting a few weeks or even months for a large purchase at a much reduced price. Check online for cheaper prices too and you could save 10-20% or even more.|||I have an automatic investment plan setup. Every month, $400 is taken out of my checking account and then it is transferred to my Roth IRA. Then it is invested into mutual funds I picked.

How does combining coupons work to save a lot of money?

I've see extreme couponing and would like to learn how to save money by using coupons.|||Basically you combine manufacturer coupons (Kellogg's, Nestle etc..) with store coupons (Target, Safeway etc...) with a store's sales and special offers.

You get these coupons by subscribing to magazines, newspapers, getting friends ads and looking online for printable coupons. Sites like http://couponmom.com http://brandnamecoupon.com etc.. have lots of real coupons you can use.

My wife has been doing this for a while and we've had more than a few trips to the store where they actually paid us!!|||It really depends on your area. I can't do anything in my area. :( None of the stores around here offer double (or triple, etc.) coupons. Our newspapers hardly have any coupons in them.

Visit couponmom.com for more info. They even have videos on how to do everything. Basically, if you can use multiple coupons on a product that is on sale at the store, you are going to make a killing! Couponmom.com lists what products go on sale at what store and where you can find a coupon for those items (usually in the Sunday paper).

It would have been great if MY AREA DID ANY OF THAT STUFF!!|||Some coupons can be combine and that depends on the store and the rules of the coupons too. Combining coupons means you can use as many coupons for a certain item which gives you a lot more savings.|||I came across this site that gives you deals and coupons for Free Grocery:

Hope this should help you|||http://www.giganticcoupons.com teaches you how

What is the smartest and most effective way to save money for a vechicle?

I've been wanting to save up for a car but i find it difficult to not use the money that is saved. What are better methods?|||Invest the money in some short term CDs (3 month, 6 months, 1 yr, etc...). That way you won't be able to touch the money. Any bank should be able to set you up with them. Rate will be low but it sure beats spending the money.

What are ways to save money for college at 14?

I'm graduating from 8th grade this June and I really want to go to a UC college like UCLA or UC Irvine but it is very expensive! I checked out the website and it was $25,000 per year for undergraduates. What are some ways that I can save money this early?|||SAVE everything, birthday money, graduation money, christmas money, start a college savings plan for yourself (your parents can help you choose the correct one) and the companies will let you print out deposit slips to hand out to relatives. A great way to "hint" to them what you want for Christmas for the next 4 years.

You are old enough to start working now, babysit, mow lawns, lemon aide stand, bake sale, clean houses, rake leaves. I used to wash lunch trays in my middle school cafeteria for 45 min a day and got free lunches and breakfasts plus five dollars a week so I got to keep the money my parents gave me for lunch money..... the possibilities are ENDLESS!!!|||you need scholarship or loan|||try taking surveys online.

What ways can you suggest to help save money?

I just wrote this LONG answer to someone else suggesting my ideas for saving money--then I submitted my answer only to read that the questioner had withdrawn the question.

But now I want to know: What ways can you suggest, be they big ways or little ways, to help an individual or family save money?|||1.- Buy 'generic'

2. - Boycott privately own vehicles other than bicycles

3. - Boycott cell phones

4. - Shop around for the best deals

5. - Shop at the most discounted discount stores [Wal-Mart isn't as cheap as the $.99 Stores!]

7. - Be very patient to find a good bargain %26amp; NEVER impulse buy!

8. - Drink mo healthy chilled water [cut sugary soft drinks completely!]

10. - Wear layered, insulated warmer clothes instead of turning up thermostats.

11. - Reduce hot water waste with showers every OTHER day!

12. - Reduce grocery bills by eating every OTHER day!

From every single paycheck, unexpected money coming in, rebates or yearly income taxes put hakf the ckeck in a separate place than you would the other money that is used the most. So like have a place for spending money and difference place for saving money. Dont touch the savings unless something very important comes up and make sure to keep track and replace it.|||pay yourself first..10% is what one expert says. I had a savings account for my daughter where i put $1 for every yr of he age..3 yrs old = $3 a week then we had to close it because we moved and now i keep track of how much i owe her. maybe you could start doing that. Get your extra bills paid off then continue counting that money but put it in a savings account. say you have $300 a month in extra bills and you get them all paid off in 7 monthes, after that there's 300 in savings x 7 monthes =2100.|||There are so many ways. We can forgo fashion trends and focus on functionality. We can do away with fast food, Starbucks, bad habits (i.e. smoking or drinking), and magazine subscriptions.

We can also focus on how we get around town. We can take the bus, buy a cheaper car, trade in a gas guzzler, ride a bike, walk to the store, take a bus, ride a train, take the subway, and carpool.

A family can focus on little things to save money. Set allowances so children have to earn their toys, not demand them. Cook meals in the home and mothers can even make their own baby food to save money. We can take educational vacations. We can ask neighbors for a tool to borrow instead of buying it new.

The best thing we can do is change our perspective on how we're living. With the right perspective, we can change our spending habits.|||Awesome question and one I love to consider myself. Check out this blog with some great solutions to saving big and small.

What is a good way for my Fiancee and I to save money?

I am living in the basement of her parents' home, and the rent is quite affordable.

Please tell me, what are some basic ways that my Fiancee and I can save money for the future? Any suggestions at all would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance!

I am looking for any ideas- coupons, buying in bulk, buying sundries at the dollar store, cutting down on gasoline consumption, cheaper car insurance, decreasing the grocery bill, saving money eating out, etc.|||There are lots of ways to save money, and keeping your rent/mortgage payment low is one of them, so congrats on your living arrangement. Having affordable rent allows you to focus on other ways to save. Here are a few:

* when possible, walk don't drive - with gas over 4 bucks a gallon, this one is obvious

* buy food in bulk - get a membership at somewhere like Costco or Sam's Club. Those places usually have cheaper prices and the savings will add up.

* cut out the cable - if you are paying for cable or satellite TV, you probably can save lots of money by just watching free TV until you are in a better financial situation

* don't eat out - you already mentioned this, but you can save several hundred dollars a month eating at home. This is multiplied if you go to bars and spend money drinking. Stay at home and you'll see the money piling up that you save.

* once you have some money, invest in a CD - all banks, credit unions and even some online companies sell CDs with nice interest rates. You don't have to tie up the money for years, like you would with a IRA and you'll get much better interest than with a traditional savings account.

* if you've got the time, get a second/third job - whatever you are good at, go out and get some extra income and put it in the bank. If you aren't sure what to do consider waiting tables, do landscaping, bar tending, working at a supermarket during off hours, even a paper route. All will give you nice extra income that you can sock away for another day.

* when making gift lists, ask for household supplies and other items you need - it might make for boring gifts, but if you have a birthday coming up, ask for something for your home.

Those are just a few ideas. Hope the info helps. If you want some more ideas how to save money, check out Quizzle, the site I work for. We'll give you some more financial tips and it's all free. Good luck!|||Invest money!!!That is the only way!!|||Best way to save money is first to understand where you are spending it.

Try and keep track of every $ spent for a couple of weeks and then do yourself up a budget. List things in essential and non-essential columns. Essential being Rent, bills, food, loan repayments etc, and the non essentials such as eating out etc.

ONce you understand where you money is going you will be able to then cut back on your non-essentials.

Work out an amount to save each pay cycle and put the money into an account as soon as you get paid. Make sure you have limited access to the account where you might need 24hrs or something to access the cash, and only use it in emergencies.

Important thing is to transfer the money before you even get a chance to spend it. See if your employer will deposit it directly into your savings account when you get paid.

Best of luck.|||The easiest way that I know is to put all of the change from your pocket into a container everyday. You will be surprised at how much money you will save without missing one penny.

Take the time to make your breakfast and lunch. Buy products that all you have to do is add water to them. I use to have instant oatmeal for breakfast and a fruit. I would carry a small thermos of coffee to work. You will be surprised at how much you will save from doing this day after day.|||Yeah you should definitely look into investing. I recommend Forex trading using a trading system for a couple reasons. The first is because the capital is low but returns are high ($500 minimum investment) and second is you can get an automated trading system to do all the work for you. This means two streams of income if you continue working your current job.

Today alone I made over $800 in profit from one trade and in just minutes. EUR/USD; bought at 1.5596 and sold at 1.5677 - check the charts on DailyFX for proof of the numbers - today is the 25th of June. I could have made even more if I wasn't paranoid and clicked the magic button (it went all the way up to 1.568x).

What you do (and what I did) is make sure the trading system has a 60 day money back guarantee first; then make sure you can use a demo account. A demo account let's you play the trading game with "play money" so you can see if you can profit from the trading system without investing your real cash.

Use the demo account for 59 days and if you see you can make profit you keep the system and invest your real cash. If there's no profit to be made you get a refund and try another system; there's literally no risk when buying one.

If you're interested I found reviews of the top 3 Forex trading systems: http://forex.jgwebdesign.net/|||You have to start thinking S-M-A-R-T. What kind of cutbacks can you make? For example: I drink bottled water. Now at $1 a bottle on something that covers over 65% of our planet is not smart. So I bought one of those water filters that screw into your faucet. I have bottles that I refil over and over again. I take them to work. Do you have a lot of small appliances around that house that are always on? I cut my electronic bill almost in half by unplugging all the clock radios and night lights. I also bought some of those florescent bulbs that look a lot like a regular bulb. These things use 80% less electricity than regular bulbs. You would be surprised, but these small things add up. I know I was spending money on the water filter and energy efficient bulbs but these things will pay for themselves in a month providing they pertain to you. If you really need the money right away start cutting back on your food costs. Romain noodles cost a dime and they taste just as good as campbells chicken noodle that costs $130 a can. Ok no chicken in romain noodles, but you are probably just missing about 4 tiny pieces of chicken. Put a brick inside your toilet 'chamber'. You will use a little lesser water each time you flush..Before you know it you will be ahead. And remember you have to start thinking S-M-A-R-T! Yours truly seahorsehawrey.
