How to save money on Funeral expenses?

How can I save money on my mom's funeral? I love my mom dearly and don't think the amount of money I spend on her funeral should be a reflection of my love for her b/c it's not. How can I save a few dollars? I've never buried anyone before.|||neptune society 800-6378863 or www.neptunesociety.com there are a crematory. i now have my mom and dad with me.|||First let me say, I am so sorry for your loss. I would speak to the funeral director about it.

What is the best way to save money on a divorce in california with an attorney?

i have filed and served papers on my husband. my attorney costs $300 per hour. how can i use as little os her time as possible to save money by doing things myself.

here are some ideas i have thought of: file additional paperwork by mail myself (are there any good resources for how to do this?)

hire a paralegal for everything but legal advice and representation (on average what is their hourly rate, and has anyone done this before?)

have as little contact with my lawyer as humanly possible

any other suggestions?|||don't get one.|||You can have a Legal Document Assistant (LDA) prepare your paperwork for you. LDAs are the ONLY non-attorneys who are permitted to prepare documents for consumers (meaning, anyone selling you "paralegal" services is guilty of a misdemeanor, and is NOT registered and bonded - so you have no protection or recourse if things go wrong).

It is fairly common for consumers to get advice from an attorney and then have an LDA prepare the paperwork (this is called "unbundling"). It is more common for a party to just hire an LDA, without an attorney - particularly if the matter is not contested and both parties know exactly what they want. Many divorces can be completed between $350-500, depending on assets, children, etc.|||If you come to an agreement with your soon-to-be-ex (in writing), regarding property, custody and child support and you are confident you both can stick to it, that is the easiest way to keep your legal fees to a minimum. The negotiation on those topics is what takes time, and time is money.

If your husband is already served, and you have filed with the court, then the last step (usually) is to appear before a judge and each of you present your "demands". If you have an agreement already hammered out, you can present this to the judge. If the judge accepts it, it becomes part of the order and that is that. At least for now. Depending on your state, there are a number of resources for "Do it yourself" divorce.

Good luck!

How much spending money should I save for Per煤 trip?

This June I am going to Per煤 with my spanish class for 2 weeks. Everything is paid for ahead of time except for our spending money for souvenirs, extra food/drinks, ect) How much money do you think I should save up in order to have plenty of money to spend on souvenirs for my family, friends, and myself? I would like to know now so I can begin to save money. Thanks|||$25-$35 USD per day or less!|||Sounds like a great time! I went to Lima, Peru with my church last summer and it was an amazing experience. It was the same thing for me- everything was paid for in advance except for extra food and souvenirs. I converted about US $130 to soles and I had extra cash when I came home. But it depends on how much you want to buy and if you go to expensive places, you shouldn't need that much money. The average souvenirs at the Indian market (btw, totally cool) was around 30 or 40 soles which isn't that much and was for something pretty nice. I think for a alpaca wool scarf I only paid like 30 soles. Just remember that $1= around 3 soles and also that I'm not a huge spender, others in my group spent some more than I did. So I your like them, you may want to bump up that total a little. OH, and I went only for 1 week, not 2, so definetly consider that. You may be shopping more than I did. Hope this helps!|||well about 2000 bucks

What are some tips to save money around the house?

I realized today that our water usage is 33% lower than last year at this time. I saved 57% today on groceries with my club card, personalized savings, sales, and coupons. We changed cell phone plans to save $30 a month. Things like that.

What do YOU do to save money on household bills?|||In the summer I hang my clothes outside and save a ton on my electricity bill. Added bonus, the laundry smells amazing. I use a reel mower to cut the grass (no gas or electricity use but only good for a small yard). Added bonus, you get a bit of a work out. use the microwave instead of the oven. It won't heat up the house in the summer like the oven does and uses less electricity. Get rid of cable and get something like netflicks. I used to spend $70 a month for cable that I wasn't watching because nothing good was ever on but scraped that for netflicks. I now spend $8 a month for movies and tv shows with no commercials and I can get it on my cell phone too for when I am traveling. Unfortunately if you are into the reality tv shows or want the new tv shows this won't work as they offer older shows. Also if you want to save a bit of money on gas fill you car up in the morning when the temperature is lower. Gas expands when it gets warm so you will actually be putting less gas in your car if you fill up on a hot day then you would on a cold day. These are just a few ideas. Good luck|||here are a few key tips: For food you want to use as many coupons as possible search the internet, papers whatever it takes you can basically make your food budget disappear.

What are the best ways to save money for international flights?

Can I have some tips on tickets perferably from san diego to the philippines stops are okay. there are 5 adults. tips on ways to save money. coupons. deals.|||The best money-saving tips for air travel, in my experience, are:

1. Shop Around

2. Be flexible!

By arming yourself with knowledge on the route, such as A/ is it cheaper at certain times of year? B/ What's the cheapest I could reasonably expect (fare sale history on this route), C/ are consolidators or other reputable discounters offering cheaper fares due to an arrangement they have on this route, D/ if I depart a day earlier or come back a day later to save $100 a ticket, how could I find that out, for example.

For SAN-MNL, since it's international flight with no dedicated low-cost airlines serving that route, I'd start with these:

Farecompare -- http://www.farecompare.com/fare-search/y鈥?/a> --for fares currently offered, up to 10 months in the future, and ratings of the fare to know how good it is compared to previous fare sales, and for easily signing up there for sale alerts to emai.

http://matrix.itasoftware.com/cvg/dispat鈥?/a> -- to see cheapest dates over an entire month

http://www.bookingbuddy.com -- once settled on dates to shop many sources--including several consolidators--to see if a better offer is available for those exact dates.|||being flexible with airports might help too, but remember to factor in all costs such as extra driving gas or bus/train tickets, parking fees, and put a $$$$$ on your time.

say for example, if san diego-manilla requires transfers and has a high fare, you may want to look at los angeles-manilla to see if there are lower fares, more direct fligths with less or no transfers, etc.

generally, the more popular a market pair, generally there will then be multiple departures, and even multiple airlines, and the competition will tend to keep prices lower.

going between a market pair where only 10 people a day are going, and you can be assured that the 1 flight per day by 1 airline will cost you through the nose.

generally, shop around on line first, nowadays, to check for alternative airports and their fares and services. but you probably will be best to make the actual booking through the airline's own web site or thru a travel agency. online bookings generally have problems in emergency events such as weather cancellations, airline bankruptcy, and so on, where getting reaccommodated onto other flights or getting refunds are practically nil.

What are the possible way to save money? All commodities are very high and cylinder also going to cost more?

I HOPES THIS WILL HELP YOU|||There are many factors revolving around price rise. So forget about an one man army to reduce prices... it isn't practical without a good political and business influence on the economy.

Coming to savings, this intention comes only due to a fear in oneself. The fear that you will not be helped... and that is because we are not helping another in day to day life...

Another fact is because we do not restrict our requirements to what we have... the urge to need more and more of the commodities world...

I think it is high time people should think of reducing their requirements, this would also act like a rebellion against the price rise.|||Besides saving, try to invest in yourself in ways that can increase your future income. What are some easy ways to save money when planning your wedding?

We are looking to get married in the summer of '09 and we're paying for everything ourselves. What are some things we can do to save money or even do ourselves?|||You can DIY most of it...just give yourself a lot of time to get things done. For the stationary, just print them using your home printer, and decorate simple paper with a really beautiful stamp and perhaps a shimmery ink color. You can repeat this stamp image on everything from the place cards to the programs.

For the centerpieces, keep it simple-a nice candle in a simple hurricane lamp that has a ribbon tied around it, and toss some silver or gold confetti on the tables (it will catch and reflect the candlelight).

For the dress, shop sales and you can potentially find a really fancy bridesmaid's dress in white and that can save you money too.

Keep the flowers seasonal and regional...lots of websites can give you that kind of information.

Don't worry about favors: no one notices/misses them.

When looking at reception sites, don't forget to look into places like local museums, park district buildings, little art galleries and even little family-owned restaurants. Sometimes you can get a really interesting venue for a reception for a really good price if you keep your eyes open to the possibilities of a space.

Also, space out your purchases....weddingchannel.com has some REALLY good sales on things, as does some Ebay wedding stores, so buy things when they go on sale and hold on to them. It also gives you time to pace yourself and save the money.

For the honeymoon, consider spending a few days at the nearest large city-it will save you money on airfare, and if you tell each place you are going to that you are on your honeymoon you usually get upgrades and free things. |||Many this year rising trends have carried over into new one, including tightened budgets, internet purchases, simplified weddings, popularity of all‐inclusive wedding packages, do‐it‐yourself decorations and services, and the use of inexperienced photographers. Couples are spending less on their weddings!

Many couples that had originally planned 2008 weddings have pushed back their weddings to 2009 or 2010 in order to save more money while they wait. Vendors are seeing brides shopping around more and for longer periods of time before making a purchase. More couples are choosing to have their wedding take place on Fridays and Sundays, or even weekdays, in order to obtain vendor discounts. Couples are planning smaller or less formal weddings, mostly inviting close family and friends.

Brides are searching for deals and choosing less expensive wedding gowns. Those that purchase expensive dresses are trying to sell them through wedding website forums after their wedding. Some bridal shop owners are offering discounts or giving away gowns to women who are on active duty or engaged to military personnel currently deployed.

Brides are also cutting costs by going without extra items and services, or they choose smaller packages. For instance, hiring a photographer for a couple of hours as opposed to the entire day. Also, when couples do hire wedding planners, it is usually just for day‐of‐the‐wedding coordination. Couples are creating their own invitations instead of ordering them specially made. In addition, they are relying on family members to help with decorations, floral arrangements and photography, or they are purchasing lower end packages from vendors. Others are spending more on high‐end details, while paring down their guest lists.

Recommendations:

You could save:

% -is out of budget for each wedding budget item/section, not the total budget

5-25% 5% just by cutting down meals from 5 to 3 courses even more by choosing the buffet reception over sit down meals (sit‐down dinners break the flow and social fun of the wedding since everyone is forced to socialize solely with those at their table while waiting for each course, also buffets include the variety of foods available for picky guests or those with food allergies, as well as the increased ability for guests to move around and mingle)

10% by picking Friday or Sunday date – please see the choosing date pr

15% by choosing out of wedding season date - please see the choosing date pr

20% by specifying house brands for the mixed drinks

40% by making only the bottom tier of the cake real

45% by buying invitations and favours on-line ( or no favours at all - Favours are viewed as unnecessary, and they are one of the first things couples go without when they're on a tight budget.

Up to 50% by buying the gown on truck show/on sale (note: the need for alterations has increased requests for altering services!)

55% by DIY or in-season flowers

Up to 65% by hiring DJ instead of band, even more if you creating your own play list using Ipod, mp3players, laptops – new trend as well

|||Hi and congratulations:

1. Keep things as simple as you can.

2. Have a small wedding party.

3. Have a small guest list.

4. If you can't have a small guest list, then possibly do a cake, punch and coffee reception.

5. Enlist HELP! If someone offers to make the cake, let them.

If someone knows how to arrange flowers....let them.

6. Print your own invitations using "boxed sets" that you can buy at Michaels, Walmart, Target and other discount or craft stores.

7. Do everything simply.......a bowl with floating candles for centerpieces is one idea. No one is going to remember your decorations, invitations, or centerpieces....so, again, keep it simple.

8. Another idea for simplicity is to have the bride carry just a few nicely arranged flowers - tied with a nice satin ribbon. The same for the bridesmaids....have them carry 1 or 2 flowers instead of a big huge bouquet....you can save tons by doing that.

9. Look at discount places like David's Bridal or JCPenney for a dress and bridesmaids dresses. There are many on David's Bridal that are $200 or less! Ebay and second hand stores are another idea.

10. Don't waste money on any "extras" that the bridal industry says you "have to have." Such as: favors; limos; videographer; unity candle.

11. Go "outside the box" when it comes to a reception venue. Banquet halls and hotels can be expensive. Look around at other options....VFW halls, church halls. Because the reception is the biggest chunk of a wedding budget, this could be a substantial savings.

Good luck!

|||Now I believe you asked how you can save money now for your wedding. I think you can start by not buying expensive stuff at the store. for example if you need new shoes instead of expending 50 try to spend 25 and have an account open just for the wedding and put the other 25 in the account. Sit down and figure out your monthly income along with his and see what your expenses are and then after your expenses what ever you have left start using it to buy things for the wedding and to pay for the reception place. I hope this helps. I know that this is what i would do. |||One easy way to save money is to buy a wedding dress online. My wife did it and it was so much better quality than the bridal gowns she was trying on at the bridal shop. The dress is actually handmade with beads and silk. It only cost a few hundred dollars on the website. We saved about $600 dollars. They had a money back return policy and the favorite thing my wife liked is that no other woman had worn the dress. The website is www.bridalonlinestore.com She used a coupon and saved 5% off the total order but I do not know if it would still work but it is worth trying. The coupon was VIP. If your in the military you can save even more.|||

CHeck out prices for the reception menus which can range from buffets, light wedding breakfasts, and afternoon teas, to elaborate sit down meals.

choosing a reception venue

there are many choice where to hold your reception. you can start with the traditional church halls to private homes, hotels, and countless of unusually locations like museums, galleries, and theme parks. now that there are so many approved wedding premises, it may be possible to combine your ceremony and party at the same venue.

the Reception Venues tip list and wedding reception places

start by going to visit anywhere you are considering

make sure they can accommodate your specific plans and requirements

book at least 9 t0 12 months in advance depending on location

look at menus if catering is part of the package

look at costs

do not pay a deposit until you are sure your money is unlikely to be refunded if you change your mind.

|||Have a light snack for your reception instead of a meal

Buy your wedding dress on sale or second hand

Skip the party favors, everyone loses them

For the bouquets: the bride has a dozen flowers, the bridesmaids have a single flower (as long as it's not a daisy or something really small) and choose in season flowers that are reasonably priced

Research your venue carefully and check for random charges, like set up fees, take down fees and other junk like that

Don't have the wedding video taped, just photos

See if you have any friends that are good at photography that can do a good job at your wedding, but I don't recommend going cheap on the photos, they last forever and are worth the extra money

That's all I can think of right now, Good Luck and Congrats!|||You can make your own centerpieces, have smaller bouquets, make the reception adult only. You could have the baker of the wedding cake make a smaller cake to have on display in the reception area but have sheet cakes in the kitchen to serve and that will drasticaly drop the cost of the cake for you and no one will even notice. |||Elope! Seriously, give it some thought - use all the wedding money for a much nicer honeymoon. If I had known ahead of time that our ceremony would last less than 20 minutes, the reception less than 2 hours I think we would have just went on our honeymoon and married at our destination. (not a huge destination wedding though..) That's the best way I know of not to spend a fortune!|||Be creative. Don't have a huge reception, have a light buffet following ceremony. Google "Creative, affordable photographer" for your area. Search clearance racks for invitations, etc. Simple is okay... and second hand wedding dresses are brilliant - after all, it's only worn once! If you do, you can resell it also|||This question gets asked a lot, so search the answers for more responses.

Try:

-Making your own invites, decorations, buying things in bulk when you can

-Having a pot-luck style meal

-If you know of any photographers/bakers etc ask them for their skills in place of a gift

-use a public place like a park vs venue

-get married in a courthouse

For the center pieces we bought vases from the dollar store and got cheap spray paint and painted them the color we wanted. We got our glasses and cake topper that matched at Wal-Mart. We cut out things that weren't truly important. We went with a small florist for the bouquets instead of a larger more well known florist and I was more than happy with the out come. We spent a total of 3,500 and some people thought we spent up to 10,000....

Good Luck |||As much as possible, keep things simple. Think about what is really NEEDED. You don't NEED matching everything or a lot of decoration stuff.

I don't know about you, but when I was a teenager I spent lots of money on clothes and makeup. There are lots of fun things you can do with your friends to save money on stuff like that. Have a clothes swap-- you may hate that dress you wore 100 times but your friend will think its fresh and fun. You can also all get together and make fun beauty products like body scrubs. Homemade stuff always feels great, is cheaper than the store bought brands, and staying in keeps you from spending money on movies and dinner!

Of course, you should enjoy your money. Treat yourself to one movie or a few coffee drinks a month--but don't go overboard.

Those are the big things but I also think little things like drinking water at restaurants instead of getting a drink really add up.

The best advice that I have heard was from a college professor. She said that if you are married without children to live on one income and save the other. It is always easy to move your lifestyle up but very difficult to move it back down if you have children. I think that is very wise because then you have choices if you plan to have children as far as working or staying home. We have always done this and have quite a large amount in savings. It is fun to see that our investments made several thousand dollars this quarter without me doing anything and to have the security that comes with that.

It is really all about the choices you make.

My husband and I are ready to start saving up for a down payment on a home. We can set aside $400-$500/ a month. What is the best type of account to save our money in that will yield high interest? We are new at this, so any information would be great. Thanks in advance!|||The highest interest account I found is through ING. Website is www.ingdirect.com. I keep my extra money there; have had the account for about 1 1/2 years and very happy with it. It can pay higher rates of interest because it's an internet bank rather than having lots of brick and mortar locations. You link the account to an account you already have and that's how you transfer money into and out of it.

How can save money at the grocery store?

I clip coupons, shop at the discount store, and only buy what we need, but meats and paper products and all this other crap adds up, and even though I scrimp and save and try to be the best home economist that I can be, I still feel like I spend too much money. Am I just cheap, or has food gotten really expensive lately? Does anyone have any advice? Does anyone else ever feel guilty just for buying food and other stuff to live off of? I'm at my wit's end with this!|||Food is definitely expensive! Save-a-Lot and Aldi's are good places to go for groceries, though. As for meat, you can sometimes get hot dogs, lunch meat, and vienna sausages for cheap at those stores. They also sometimes sell these huge 10-pound bags of chicken for about $4 at Save-a-Lot...whenever I buy one of those, it lasts me and my fiance at least a week, and the chicken tastes delicious, I think. For paper products it's good to go to the dollar store. Some of the things I do to save money are to wash out old milk jugs and fill them with water and tea to make unsweetened tea, keep the plastic bags that I carry groceries in and use them in the smaller trash cans, and keep most of my meat products in the freezer instead of the refrigerator so that they will last longer. I hope some of this helps...good luck shopping!|||I buy coupons on ebay, sometimes eat for free. The way I look at it is if each person can eat for a dollar a day, I am doing really well. When there is something on sale, like TP, I go hog wild and stock up for a year. In the end it all adds up. Also, shop at the dollar tree for liquid detergents and other stuff, that also helps to save. Good Luck|||I think store brands can be a lot less expensive and just as good. I think they are even less than brand names with coupons.

Also, if there are things you buy on a regular basis, have a list of them. When you do your regular shoping if, say, paper towells are on sale, then buy them even if you don't need them immediately.

Groceries go up as salaries and real estate goes up.|||Buy in bulk, also shop at Sams club or walmart.|||Make a list of what you want to buy and dont look around in the shop beyond your list. I usually find that it is impulse buying that costs a lot. And reduce going to grocery stall to twice a week than going everyday.|||If you are overweight I suggest you to skip dinner one day per week and you will save a lot of money.|||Cut back on your eating...Buy in bulk at Wal Mart or Sams Club|||know how to estimate and know what you are buying before you go to the store

How to save money as a teenager?

I want to save money myself to be able to afford a netbook but I don't know a way a teenager 13 years old can get money. I don't want to ask my parents to buy me it because I feel I am wasted their money. Are there any ways I can get money without my parents being the people paying for it?|||You should buy a piggy to save change because it adds up. Always put money away.

As to get the money work it off. Ask your parents for jobs to do. Wash the car, Mow the lawn, clean the garage. Clean the house.

Mow the neighbors lawn any other odd jobs you could think of. You could also sell stuff off of ebay.|||Let me tell you what my 13 year old brother does. You know how girl scouts raise money by selling cookies they order from someone else? Well, my brother sells stuff for my friend. My friend pays him to sell custom-designed button pins for her (Like the kind that say "I love ___" and people can get whatever they want in the blank). He does it in school (like at lunch and on the bus) and on facebook, so it doesn't take much time out of his day. Teenagers go nuts over these pins, and they are super easy to sell. He makes like $50 a week sometimes. My friend who hired him MIGHT consider hiring you via long distance (she'd ship the orders to you)... but you would need to email me and we could talk about it. There's an email link on my profile. There might be people in your area who would pay you to sell stuff for them too. Ask around.|||I follow a blog called Tested Money, they test "work from home" sites and they show only the ones that work. I earn only $10 to $15 monthly in amazon giftcards searching on the web. Not too much but it is real, is not a scam. The page is http://testedmoney.blogspot.com/ I think you can follow that site and see what option is good for you. Instead of amazon giftcards you have the option to get paypal giftcards, that are the same as cash.|||if you get an allowence put part of that in the bank and the as cash in ur hands and try only spending that much before you get ur next allowance. So then you dont need to touch the money in ur bank and you can use the money there for a netbook.

How can a teenager save their parents money?

Okay so I am trying to save my parents money. I have been doing tiny stuff such as turning off the lights when I do not hae a use for them or turning off the tv. When i go shopping I always shop sales. I want to know other ways to save money.|||carpool if you have siblings that go to school at the same time that you need to be somewhere, help out by offering to babysit siblings for less than a babysitter would charge (if not free), get a part time job, there are a lot of things you can do to help. Think of some of the things that they pay other people to do and see if you could do them for cheaper as a chore or for free just to help out if they aren't too hard.|||You have to start thinking S-M-A-R-T. What kind of cutbacks can you make? For example: I drink bottled water. Now at $1 a bottle on something that covers over 65% of our planet is not smart. So I bought one of those water filters that screw into your faucet. I have bottles that I refil over and over again. I take them to work. Do you have a lot of small appliances around that house that are always on? I cut my electronic bill almost in half by unplugging all the clock radios and night lights. I also bought some of those florescent bulbs that look a lot like a regular bulb. These things use 80% less electricity than regular bulbs. You would be surprised, but these small things add up. I know I was spending money on the water filter and energy efficient bulbs but these things will pay for themselves in a month providing they pertain to you. If you really need the money right away start cutting back on your food costs. Romain noodles cost a dime and they taste just as good as campbells chicken noodle that costs $130 a can. Ok no chicken in romain noodles, but you are probably just missing about 4 tiny pieces of chicken. Put a brick inside your toilet 'chamber'. You will use a little lesser water each time you flush..Before you know it you will be ahead. Wanna be creative? Find yourself leaving lights on? Buy a motion sensor switch, the lights will turn on when you enter the room and will turn off (by a set amount of time) when you leave the room. I have one, they cost $15 at HomeDepot. Need new windshield wipers for your car? Who says you have to buy 2? You only need the new one on the drivers side, leave the old wiper on the passenger side. So remember you have to start thinking S-M-A-R-T! Yours truly seahorsehawrey.|||Buy less expensive or second hand clothes and household items.

Does it save money to build a house and leave parts of it unfinished?

For example, building a second floor and leaving it unfinished, no bathroom, no flooring, etc? This is to save money and also because some space won't be needed right now.|||no|||It doesn't always save money but it lets you defer some costs to a later time when you may be able to afford them better. When we built our house there was a 1000 square feet of attic space. I had the sub contractors give me costs to also rough in the framing, plumbing and electrical. The differential was so small that I went ahead and had them do that part. Later, I finished the rest myself.|||Maybe at the current time you are building but of course you want to finish the job to be complete. Many folks do it later so yes it can save you right now

But later price of material can be much higher then it is now

What special routine or tricks do you do to get yourself to save money?

I know some people have special ways to save money....what is yours? Also, how do you get yourself not to touch the money you saved? I need to start saving money...but I have a hard time keeping it in the savings! What motivates you to save?|||I use the credit union at work. They take money right out of your pay. As little as $5 a week. So you don't really miss it. Outta sight outta mind. Their locations aren't usually nearby ,which makes it a little harder to get to.Therefore easier to save.|||Goals motivate and give a reason for saving. I set short-term (ie. trip to Europe next year) and long-term goals (retire at age 60). Have a plan for savings. I used to have a portion of my pay check deposited into a credit union savings account. It was very easy to save if it was automatic. Now, before I pay my bills, I make a monthly deposit into savings. If you have an IRA sometimes you can set up an automatic withdraw from checking account to IRA.

I hope this helps.|||For me personally I have to compartmentalize everything, I can't say I have $100 in account "A" for bills and fun. So I have 6 accounts with my bank for the following

1) Bills

2) Money to transfer to brokerage

3) Gift Savings

4) Long term Savings

5) Entertainment savings

6) Fun money for the week

It may seem ridiculous but it works for me, especially having all my fun money in one place so I know exactly how much I can spend at any given time.|||Find a low fee money market account with automatic deductions from your bank account.

I used to contribute $200 a month and scheduled it as I schedule other bills. Regretfully, thanks to Congress and the law raising minimum payments, I can't do it for now.

You need to "pay yourself" just like any other bill.|||goals and a budget = you stay on the budget and make your goals and you will form a habit that will make you very happy!!!|||Automatic Withdrawls.|||Just open a savings account and treat it like a bill and make payments every month. How did you save money on your wedding?

I already have some plans on how to save, less flowers, single flowers or candles for center pieces at the reception, my moms wedding dress or one that is on sale, small number of people in attendence, only one bridesmaid, that sort of thing. How did you all save money on your wedding to keep it from being way too expensive? Any tips?|||My wife and I got married in January. We didnt have lots of money for a wedding and neither did the parents. We settled on a budget of $1,500.00 and actually came UNDER. We also had over 200 guests!

We where able too get a wedding dress on sale at Davids Bridal for around $600.00. That was the most expencive item, I think it was a waste of money but she wanted too look amazing, and she did. She had her two bridesmaids get their dresses online, i think they paid around $30.00 for each of them. There is no need too spend a couple hundred bucks from a store when you can shop online!

We found a free venue. It was the clubhouse of a gated retirement community that one of our family friends lived it, this is a HUGE cost if book a venue plan on spending between 1,000 and 3,000 depending on where you have it and IF you want ANY food, including a cake they usually charge you more because they have too get a licence too have it on property. So think hard, and do research, you can find very cheap too free places too have the event and using the next tip, you can dress the place up too look exactly like you want it for cheap!

Go too your local Dollar Store, we used Dollar Tree (see link). They also have bulk prices if you are buying in quantity. From them you can get all of your glass vases, fake crystal rocks, candles, fake flowers, table cloths and everything for very cheep.

The centerpieces we hand made using items from Dollar Tree~!

Lets say you want a glass vase/candle holder with decorative glass rocks on bottom and a floating candle in it on each table. That would cost less than $3.00 per center piece, if you had 20 tables all youve spent is $60.00 and it takes just a few minnutes too put them together!

We based ours off of websites where you ordered them, those websites charged around $50.00 per center for basically the exact same thing that we did ourselves for $3.00!

We had my aunt do the pictures, with digital cameras these days you can go buy a brand new camera if you need too for a coupel hundred bucks and not pay a photographer several hundred if not thousands of dollars too do what you could do on your own! I think our pictures cost us under $100.00 with all the prints! Once again, they look like a pro did them!

ummmm what else.....

We where able too get a DJ for very cheap, and where able too afford it due too all the other saveings.

The guy who married us was a family friend, so no charge

FOOD/CAKE

You can get a custom cake from a grocery store with a bakery for under $50.00. There is no need for a multi tier wedding cake, they all taste the same!

We also did not pay for a caterer, we had a potluck type thing, and it turned out great!

Invites,

Dont pay some invite printer too do custom jobs, shop around and maybe do them yourself. We found very classy looking blank invites at wallmart that came with the gold embossed borders and everything, we just took them too Staples and had them printed!

The other thing we did was find friends who had recently had weddings who had purchaced all the stuff and then threw it in a box in the garage, we got all kinds of lights, and linens that we used for FREE

Looking back we are SO glad we didnt drop the average cost of a wedding, I think it is like 10K. We where in a daze the whole time and would not have known the differance!|||stick to small centerpieces and buying flowers from a supermarket is a good way to save money. You can go to a linen store and make your own table linens. Make your own invites you can go to any office max or staples and they have printable wedding invites. And sometimes people have an all Hors d'艙uvres for the food to save money.

Good luck with your planning|||We first found a venue where we could have both the ceremony and reception, and they included a lot in the package ( tent, tables, chairs, linens, china, glassware, some decorations, a suite for 2 nights, etc.) and they also cater, so we chose the cheapest option they offered and just spruced it up a bit.

We *tried* to keep the guest list down.

We are buying flowers in bulk and doing our own centerpieces and bouquets. I bought glass bowls from the dollar store for centerpieces.

Made my own invites and all other stationary.

Made a strict budget for my dress and didn't even look at dresses that were more $. Bought my veil for $20 at a craft store.

FMIL is making the cake.|||I found a company online that sells bulk flowers. I was able to make centerpieces with a lot of flowers in them for pretty cheap. I picked a few of the cheaper varieties and had them shipped so that they arrived a day before the wedding. My bridesmaid and mom helped me make simple arrangements in cheap vases we found at a craft store.

Veils are really expensive in bridal stores, so i bought mine on e-bay for $17.

Making your own invitations is also a good idea if you have the time and don't have too many guests. I got a cool stamp and embossing powder to make my invitations look fancier.|||I've never been married but I know several people who did courthouse/City Hall weddings and then had a low key reception. Don't take this the wrong way but I've never been the least bit interested in listening to the bride and groom make their vows; they are only of interest to the people making them anyway. Most people only go to weddings for the reception anyway.|||I saved a LOT of money by making my own invitations. It took some time to design them and put them together, but I ended up with invites that I absolutely love for a fraction of the price.|||I saved money on my bridal jewelry and bridesmaid jewelry by going to http://www.glamforless.com/. You may want to check them out.|||my parents got people to bring a plate of food to the reception and they also made some of the food themselves|||http://www.culturalindia.net/weddings/index.html|||Get people you know to take care of taking photo's video, and etc.|||We're still working on how to save money but we're going away to get married so different circumstances I guess.

My sister got married at home and did lots of little things to try to save money...

She didn't hire cars for the bridal party etc. They found a couple of friends who had real nice cars and they agreed to let them use them for the wedding...and friends agreed to drive for them! I think this literally saved them a few hundred pounds - although the obviously paid for petrol and bought the car owners/drivers a thank-you gift!

She made the centre-peices for the tables at the reception herself. She bought some of those pillar candles from a cheap shop and collected sand, pebbles and shells from the beach and arrnaged them on the tables - it looked lovely, really natural and not over-the -top!

They made their own invitations, orders of service and thank-you cards. It took a long time, but they convinced some friends and family to help out and it was good fun! I spent many saturday nights making invitations etc!

She didn't have a wedding cake - they had a tier of cupcakes instead - one of each guest which they were given when tea and coffee was served after the meal. Obviously this meant the whole 'cutting the cake' traditional was absent but it was a nice, quirky touch! A lot cheaper than a cake although my mother hasn't baked cup-cakes since! I know other people who have got a friend to bake the cake as a wedding gift which has saved money.

Also, a know a lot of people feel they need to provide a bottle of red wine and a bottle of white wine of each table at the reception. This can end up costing a fortune and 9 times out of 10 it doesnt get drunk by your guests. Figure out what wine would go best with the meal and put one bottle on each table. If your not sure about wines, speak to someoen from the hotel where your having the reception and they'll be able to advise you!

There's lots of ways to save money on your wedding, I guess it's just a case of working out what is important to you and what isn't important and doing without, or cutting back, on the things that aren't important.|||My wedding is on September 6, 2009 so I am in the end stages and figuring out all the little details right now. Mainly, my fiance and I saved money just by looking around stores' wedding sections when we just happened to be there and weren't necessarily looking to do wedding shopping. Look for sales and clearance items in store or coupons in the paper. You also need to look around a lot before you pick the venue to have the reception at because that is probably going to be a big portion of the money spent. You can also save money by having the ceremony and reception in the same place, like we are doing. Another thing to look for when picking a reception location is package deals. Originally, we were looking at having the reception at a community center, but with the cost of everything that won't be included at a community center, it would end up being more expensive for a less pretty venue. We chose a hotel that requires you to meet a certain a food minimum for your guests and, once that is met, there is no actual fee for the space rental. We are also getting tables, chairs, linens, flatware, dishes, a suite for the night, set-up and take-down all included in that price as well. Something we would have not got if we had gone with a community center. Really, I feel we have gotten very lucky. Many of the things we knew we really wanted to have we were afraid we wouldn't be able to afford, but somehow we figured most of it out, of course we didn't get everything we would like. But, I would say, just don't stress about the little details all at once (examples: centerpieces, thank you cards, guest book, ring bearer pillow, etc.) if you just look around and keep your eyes open you will probably happen to find a good deal you wouldn't have found if you would have went out and bought everything at once. Also, you need to be willing to compromise. Like with us, I wanted a fish-bowl style bowl for the centerpieces with colored glass beads and floating candles in it for the centerpieces. The prices in the stores for fish bowls were very expensive, but we found someone on craigslist selling fish bowls and hurricane vases, so we will have them alternating at the tables. Not having flowers for the centerpieces is going to save us a lot of money so I would agree with you to try to have less flowers. And, with all this saving, if you find something you really really like and it's a bit more than you anticipated paying then you shouldn't feel guilty to give into one thing. I was thinking of having a small amount of people in attendance in order to save money too, but I think celebrating it with friends and family, and your families friends too, is a very important part of a wedding so that's something me and my fiance ruled out. That's all I can think of! Hope this helped! Best of luck with your planning!

You work your tail off, can't have an after-school life, and some customers are deadbeats who won't pay up, but since you are officially an "independant contractor" you don't need a work permit for it. Or you can wait a couple more years to qualify for a work permit.

What are some new and creative ways to save money?

Everybody knows to buy things on sale, clip coupons, bring a lunch to work, and carpool. The age-old suggestions are great and truly useful, and I am finding success saving money. But there have to be newer ways to save in our economy/society!

My question is - what are some creative or unique things that you do to put some extra money into savings here and there?|||Just go through your budget items one by one. Review whether they are necessary and ask; Are you getting full value? You may have opportunities to renegotiate the terms of items in your budget. Sometimes it is a matter of opportunity but you always need to be ready when the opportunity presents itself. There can be some very significant savings waiting for you.|||why not put extra money into savings by making extra cash from selling items that you don't need around the house on ebay or ask around friends and family to see if they ahve things around the house they don't need and sell it on ebay and split the profit|||There's a shitload of money-saving and money-making books out there and a magazine called "Money", which had been out for at least 10 years since I remember seeing one back in 1997 at a library back when I was in high school. I bought a book called "Have More Money Now" where the former WWE wrestler JBL(John Bradshaw Layfield) says he he went from being flatbroke in his 20s to being a millionaire and a wall street legend. It's a pretty good book. There are also gurus like that stock market guy on TV back in 2008(think his name was Jim Cramer) where he acted energitic and had sound effects play and talked about the stock market, and then there's Suzie Orman who mostly talks about getting out of debt with an "Can I Afford it?" section.

BTW, in response to the terrible question you posted above this one about where you ask why women stay with men who are losers,

You sound pretty harsh and actually kind of immautre to say such rubbish.

First of all, did it ever occur to you that maybe a lot of guys don't act all that self-confident and think highly of themselves because just maybe too much attention and positive reinforcement is given more toward women than men? Just look at TV sitcoms. Look at movies. Look at commercials. Look at the images and messages they constantly bombard men and women with. Maybe the men who you think are "losers" wouldn't be "losers" in your book if they had been treated as well as women are always getting treated with things like women's self-esteem, "women and money by Suzie Orman", etc.

What if you had a son and he grew up to a young man and acted exactly the same way as the guys who you call losers? Why not call him a loser while you're at it? Why not? If you think it would be wrong, then what makes you think it's any better and more right to call those guys losers who you are addressing?

Besides, aren't there women who are losers out there to? Aren't there men who love them, like them, or want to date them and make out with them no matter what? If this is true, then the exact same should apply with the gender roles being reversed. Maybe a guy you like might be considered a loser to other women but you like or love something about him that the others don't know is there.

WHAT IF YOU HAD A SON AND IN THE FUTURE AFTER HE GREW UP IN HIS 20S, HE ACTED THE SAME WAY AS THOSE MEN WHO YOU LABEL AS LOSERS AND THE GIRL HE'S DATING IS BREAKING UP WITH HIM BECAUSE HER ATTITUDE WAS THE EXACT SAME WAY AS YOURS IS RIGHT NOW? HOW WOULD YOU FEEL? WOULDN'T YOU WANNA TALK WITH HER AND TELL HER THAT YOUR SON IS A GREAT GUY OR YOU'D AT LEAST TELL HIM HE'S NOT A LOSER AND CAN GET A GREAT WOMAN? I BET YOU WOULD.

What are ways you can save money on gasoline?

Right now, gasoline prices are on the rise througout the United States with not end in sight of prices going down. In some parts of the country, gasolline is over $4.00 and where I reside, the average gas price is $3.25 in Georgia.

What is advice you would give to other motorist on ways they can save money at the gasoline pump in the upcoming months?|||Car pool. Plan trips to include all errands in one run. Drive 55. Leave a stopped position slowly, not abruptly. Keep your tires aired properly.|||$4 per gallon... lucky... it's about $2 per quart here...

I advise to use public transportation (if available), or walk if the distance isn't so far...|||Drive the speed limit. Going 65 instead of 80 on the highway will make a huge difference.|||I like the car pool. Another way, use a bike or walk for short trips when the weather is good.|||it's below $3 here....make sure you have clean air cleaner and tires are inflated properly|||Absolutely, car pool or use mass transit when and if possible, go easy on the gas pedal, getting there faster doesn't help the mpg. Keep you tank topped off, the less air in the tank the less evaporation of fuel there is (however if your emissions system is working properly this shouldn't be much of an issue). Keep up on routine maintenance, a properly maintained car gets better mpg. Buy smart if looking for a new vehicle, don't opt for the large suv, get something better on gas, only as big as you need, not as you like. If what you are looking for comes with an available standard shift transmission opt for that, a manual transmission can save some mpg. Make one trip per day, to work, if you need anything get it before you go home so as not to be making a second trip out, and if you are not sure if you need anything, make a phone call it's cheaper (of course as long as you are not driving)(sorry, pet peeve). If you drive a pickup (and I know some people find this hard to believe) keep your tailgate UP. lowering the tailgate or taking it off to put on a net, does nothing to help mpg, it is better on gas with it up. (Myth busters proved it!) Use common sense while driving, if you aren't going fast enough for someone, hey, let them pass they have the right, maintaining a steady speed helps mpg.|||Here are some great ideas:

Good Luck!

How much money should you save from each paycheck?

I'm working part time and I want to start saving money. If I save half my check, is that good enough?|||That is great if you can do that. Make a monthly budget. Cut the cost in half of that extra spending that isn't needed and save that.

What is a good way to budget and save money?

I am a single male, and have a very hard time saving money. I am a spender. What is a good way to save money and budget my funds?|||if you have payroll direct deposit into a credit union..etc

do it

you will not miss the $ that way|||Payroll direct deposit a portion of your check into a savings account is a GREAT way to save. If your employer does not offer direct deposit, then you'll have to discipline yourself and set aside an amount from each pay check.

Since you say you are a spender, you might try thinking about your savings as spending. You are "spending" it on your retirement or "spending" it on your emergency fund or simply "spending" it on yourself so you don't have to live your life paycheck to paycheck.

It all comes back to you though - you just have to buck up and do it. Try starting with an itsy bitsy amount that you won't miss anyway?|||#1) Pay yourself first. Automatic deduct from your pay check, say $50.00 or whatever you can afford and put in Credit Union, or Bank's saving account. You don't feel anything and watch it grow.If your saving account reach to $1,000.00 you should consider CD, Mutual fund's Index fund. And importantly, still keep on doing !

#2) Ask yourself before open your wallet "Is this really need?" "Can I do without it?" If your answer is You don't really need it, you can live without it. Then don't spend.

Starting is hard but if you keep doing it saving become enjoyable. You feel good and even little sacrifice here and there become your joy.Miracle is the power of compound interest. Money earns money. Good luck!

How can I save money on pool chemicals?

I have a 5500 gallon easy set pool that I just put up this past month.. and money is starting to get tight for me. I was wondering if anyone has had any success with using dollar store household chlorine bleach in there pool of similar size and what it cost them. I used it in my kids pools in the past ..and yes a pool professional recomended it. Please don't just say it will be too expensive.. I want people to answer whom have actually done this to save money.|||Chlorine whether pool or laundry beach is sodium hypochlorite and is identical except for strength, 1.25%/6% or 12.5%. Some dimestore bleach is 1.25% and no value at all since you have to buy more of it (4.8 times and 10 times) to get the hypochlorite needed to raise the water to 1-3ppm max of 5 levels. You get what you pay for.

But if you want to figure how much hypochlorite you are buying to see who is selling at the best price then I'm all ears!

5,500 gallons for 1ppm free chlorine add 6.13oz of 12.5% sodium hypochlorite, pool chlorine or 14.08oz of 5%.

You're welcome!!|||I'm on tank supply for my drinking water. The water comes off my roof and is able to be contaminated by birds crapping on my roof as they fly over. I have just had a commercial tank cleaner here to clean the tank out. After pumping the water out he water blasted the inside of the concrete tank using a water/chlorine mix. After he was finished I asked him how could I keep the water fit to drink and this was his recommendations. For every 5000 gallons add 1 pint of Janola. If you don't know what Janola is , it's watered down chlorine used as household bleach. I've been doing that and don't even taste it. No different to town water. You may have to use a little more than that in a pool but a test kit will tell you that.

I understand sunlight kills chlorine so if possible when then the pool is not in use cover it to keep the sun off it and that will save you having to dose it so often.|||The chlorine in bleach used in washing machines isn't the same as pool chlorine. It will fade the plastic, weaken the seams and if you look on the label it says it is a skin irritant. A pool the size you are talking about would require about two gallons and because it breaks down so much faster than pool chlorine it's going to require more and pretty soon your water will be so out of balance it'll take a small fortune to get it back.

My advise even with money being tight is to go to a reputable pool supply and buying a quality pool chlorine. It'll last four times longer and won't cause chlorine burns on the kids skin or turn their hair green.|||chlorine is chlorine bleach is the same stuff but you will have to work out what amount you use be careful but dont be fooled it is the same thing

What are some ways to save money on a wedding?

I am starting to plan my wedding and am wondering what are some good ways to save money? If you have any ideas that would help me please share! Or if you know of websites and such that might have some hints. Thanks!|||1. reception at your house or parents house

2. DIY on everything and anything

3. Have your wedding off season

4. Order a cake just big enough for you and your hubby, and have the guests be able to eat a homemade cupcakes or sheet cake. that will cut your cost for the cake down aton

5. have a small guest list

6. make everything more casual. the more elegant, the more expensive is the way it usualy goes.

7. Consider a night othe rthan sunday. even thursday can cut costs.

8. stay in the season when choosing flowers and foods

9. choose large blooms for your flowers, rather than many little ones. choosing just one or two large flowers, such as peonies, orchids or even sunflowers will cut your costs.

10. take ceremony flowers to the reception site.

11. Do a mingle reception, you will save money on seating and be able to have just snacks and a bar rather than a sit down meal

12. rather than a bar, serve wine in passed glasses.

13. ask the dj to cut back on special effects, like lighting.

14. hire students from local universities who are in photography to do your wedding pictures. or even hire a local student band.

15. see if stationers will give youa discount for ordering all your stationary from them. i.e. thnak you cards, invitations, place cards, etc.

16. by a top of the line bridemaids dress- in white. while it may not look as extravagant as a bridal gown, you can probably find one for under 500 dollars.|||a) do it at the house you live at or a parents house.

b) have people you know make the cake, and do self catering for the dinner for the reception.

c) get those disposable cameras, only for half or less of the people youplan to invite. you don't want too many pictures. there are cameras out that have phrases on the bottom after they develop.

hope this helps|||im starting to plan my wedding as well...for starters david's bridal always has those $99 dollar gown sales...i would use those not only for you dress but for your bridesmaids as well. usually tux rental places have good deals if you rent like three tuxes the groom's is free...instead of buying centerpieces and trinkets already made, go to micheal's or a craft store and make them yourself! way cheaper. try and have a more open pot luck kind of thing going on...its cheaper and maybe have like a sign up sheet to bring food. i hope that helps you somewhat : /|||You can make your own invitations %26amp; programs

Do your own flowers/decorations

Borrow your viel, or any other items for you to wear|||Best way to save money.

A--- day, if you get married on a sat it will b pricy. think about a off day like a sunday.

B--find a cheaper place to make a cake.also when you have hypothetically speaking say 200 ppl have them bake a 20 person cake and then just make sheet cake and give them that much cheaper.

C--- find a place that does invitations online much cheaper.

D--- Place depends if you dont want pricy maybe a family members house or cheap hall.

|||I was going to do a place that did it all in one, wich alot of people say is good, but they wanted 3500 dollars for it. At first it wasn't so bad because it included for 100 guests, te cake, catering, tents, clean up, and some decorations.. but it was 3500 for JUST that, nothhing else.

BUT after asking our church to do it, they said it would be 275(you get 100 back, but we're donating it to them), the reception would be about 400-600, and the cake would be 150(3 teired from walmart). We could decide to have the reception at the church basement which is remodeled, for 100 extra, but it may be too small since we've invited over a hundered guests(all close family/friends), but I don't expect everyone to show.

Alot of stuff I'm looking at is from walmart like the pillow, basket, ect.. AND I'm buying some stuff from a person who got married before me, with colors similar to mine(decorations, bouquet, and bridesmaid dresses)

My dress was 99.00 at beautiful brides and more(everybody keeps guessing like a thousand). Plus davids bridal 99.00 gowns were VERY plain or didn't match my form(look around)

We're probably buying our own video cam and asking someone to volunteer to do it like my fiance's nephew(he's like 17). We might get the smallest photo package for the key photos and then place disposable cams at the tables at the reception for any volunteering guests to take, we'lll ave a drop box for them.

and We're getting our wedding rings at walmart(my set's like 700 bucks, but you can't tell the difference from it and a set that costed 2000)

I would say just look around, compare prices of places and you will come to good deals and what not, and don't be afraid to go ebay-ing either ^_~

Ebay has a beautiful (personalized) glass/oil unity candle set(tapers are wax, but the main candle is glass/oil)|||I like the idea of the disposable cameras at the tables. I develop pics for Target and I always suggest to brides (when they bring in a bunch of cameras) is to get all the film developed and put straight to cds- it's much cheaper than developing the film and having prints made.

Basically we charge a dollar a roll and whatever the cost per cd is (we squeeze as many rolls as we can- which is usually 8 rolls). Not all the pics are going to come out, so why pay for printing them? You can take the cd and upload them to your computer, or just use the photo kiosk in the store to edit and pic your pictures you like the best! Plus all your memories are backed up onto cd.|||How DIY handy are you and have you set a budget yet? Do tou have a theme? Decorate the church with candles, greenery, and bows This is not even terrible expensive if done by florist. U add potted plants from discount stores at side of aisle every few pews. You could try make your own bouquets, afloral.com has good videos on how to. You can buy flowers in bulk at, americanfloraldistributors.com, growersbox.com,globalrose.com, rosesource.com. delivered to your door. First two offer "bridal box" offers. Use seal and send invites, annsbridalbargains.com this saves on postage and printing. Use finger food buffet and get trays from local grocery/deli make some of the reception foods yourself. You make coffee/punch. Use paper or polycarbonate plates webrestaurant.com has great selection and case pricing. Sheets for table cloths( always usable later) or table rolls, and predone skirting for buffet table, again webrestaurant.com. Check out and order orientaltrading.com for wedding catalog. Get a wilton wedding cake catalog wilton.com. Make your own cake (not that hard! Really!!) Stumpsprom.com for bulk fabrics and decor ideas( their bulk fabrics could also help with tables). Weighted Helium Balloons, tea lights on mirrors for reception centerpieces, or go to dollar stores for container ideas. Hope this starts you thinking. Ebay for gown/veil and accessories..|||Do your flowers yourself. It's very simple to go to a farmer's market and pick out flowers, tie ribbon around the stems, and voila. Saves SO MUCH MONEY. Have a trusted friend or family member do your hair and make-up. Have a "stock the bar" party where your invites bring a bottle of wine for you and a bottle to share at the party, then use the wine at the rehearsal dinner. SHOP eBay for center pieces (so many brides just want a LITTLE money back, so you can find things that look great and cost way less on there!). My mother was very smart with our wedding and we saved THOUSANDS of dollars. We are considering writing a book! It's unbelievably easy.|||get a big empty water jug. Throw all your change and $1s in. You will ahve a good chunk in a small amount of time

have money transered directly monthyly or weekly from your accoutn to a savings

skip certain spedings like morening coffee and put that money aside |||Proably the biggest expenses are around entertaining your guests. If you want 300 people for a sit-down dinner, that's just going to cost a ton of money even if you cut corners other places.

The biggest money saving decisions we made was not to serve a meal. We had a 2pm wedding and had a buffet table with heavy appetizers (cheese tray, fruit tray, stuffed mushrooms, chicken satay, etc.) and only had 100 guests. Our total wedding was less than $8,000.

Just look at sample wedding budgets and look at the big ticket items and decide if that's important to you. If dancing isn't important, skip the DJ and plug an ipod into a speaker. If drinking doesn't matter, skip it.

Good luck and congrats!|||1. negotiate prices with your vendors. no vendor price is set in stone.

2. decorate with items other than flowers ... think candles and items you can get at michael's like river rocks, glass jars, etc. or use potted plants as decor.

3. make your own invitations - michael's has packages that you print on your computer - they have all the accessories like the liner paper, envelopes, etc. but you save a TON of $$ my printing them yourself.

4. ask your reception location if you can bring your own liquor instead of buying it from them - if you can buy your liquor from costco or sam's club.|||There are a few things:

a) Get your family to help you with your decorations

b) Make your own invitations

c) You don't need to have a multi layered cake but rather you can have a simple single cake.

d) and importantly liaise with your suppliers as they would sooner supply you with a cheaper version of what they want to supply you for the day than lose the business all together.

|||PWPOnline.com has a lot of great wedding decorations and wedding favors that can help you save money on your reception :-)

http://www.pwponline.com

Plus, their blog also has a lot of great wedding planning suggestions!

http://blog.pwponline.com

A few other great ways to save money would be to have the wedding in a backyard or at a family member's home, trimming your guest list, buying flowers wholesale, using an iPod instead of a DJ, and printing your invitations yourself.

Hope this helps!

Where to best save money that earns high interest in the Philippines?

Though I'm still young, i wanted to start saving money for me and my family's future. I wanted to save it to some financial institution that I can trust or a Bank that offers high interest rate.|||Metrobank offers 9% interest. Moreover, you can invest it in mutual funds or trading securities if you have knowledge in accounting. I am not sure but i have heard PSBank also offers interest rates as Metrobank offers.|||in the Cordillera mountains, there is a gold colored yellow and the other one is green. What is an effective way to save money for a vacation?

I want to go to South Texas in late June next year, but money is an issue. How could save money for it from now until April (when I book it)?|||put away 50 dollars a week in a savings account. Do not look at it or take it out for any reason. You will have the money you need. Or close to it.

What is a better way to save money on heating?

Now that fall's in full force, my apartment is feeling the weather change. My apartment isn't well insulated from the cold, so I don't like using the electrical heating. My place's temperature is about 68 degrees during the day and about 53 degrees during the night, and I usually use my fireplace to warm up the apartment for about an hour or so two or three times a day, but I was wondering if that's costing more money than turning up the heat on the thermostat? I'm trying to save money, so which would be a better option?|||Using the fire place like you are during the day is good.

Turning the thermostat down low when it is real cold would save and be safer.|||Depends how much are you using on firewood and what is the power rating of the heater? should have a number followed by a "W" and how much the power company charges you|||first wear long pants and long sleeves next keep your blinds and curtains open during the day and closed at night when you go outside try and do all your errands in one trip thsi includes if you have to take out the trash go to the store at the same time etc|||not switching it on and wear lots of clothes|||Choosing between an open fireplace and electric resistance heaters to efficiently heat a drafty apartment is a bad set of choices. Thats like saying "I have to travel from NY to China, should i ride my donkey or my unicycle?"

Here are a few things that may help you make the best of it:

First, call your county weatherization organization. If you are income eligible they may be able to come over and improve the insulation and air sealing for you in the apartment at no cost to you. And your landlord will get some free needed energy improvements to his property. If you arnt income eligible then just talk to your landlord about having plastic put on the windows and any obvious drafty points foamed and caulked.

Second, the lesser of your two evils is heating with the electric heater. A ceramic heater or infrared heater would be a tiny bit better than baseboard electric heat, but that is splitting hairs. Whatever you do, don't use the electric heat and fireplace both at the same time or your electric heat will just get sucked up the chimney flue. Your electric heat is expensive and precious so plug the fireplace flue with a chimney balloon so it isnt drafty anymore. Don't rely on the damper to do the job, because it wont do it. If it is a gas log fireplace then talk to the landlord about making it into a direct vent gas fireplace. Direct vent fireplaces are the only way to go for safely creating heat with a gas fireplace. Some shiesters may try to sell a vent free gas log for cheap, but dont drink the Kool-aid, those are dangerous.

Third, do all the behavioral changes like letting direct sun in, closing blinds at night, keep the thermostat down, wear sweaters, cuddle, etc... those are the little things that add up.

What is the best way to save money when travelling in europe?

im hoping to go europe the cheap way- obviously its still gonna cost quite a bit, but im trying to figure out where i can save the money.

is a eurail pass the cheapest way to go??

any tips on saving??

thanks!|||Eurail is not necessarily the cheapest way to go. It depends on how much travel you do, how far and where you go, and whether you stick to the slower regional trains or use the higher speed trains. It is often cheaper just to get point-to-point tickets directly from the national rail systems. This is particularly true if you have a travel plan and can buy tickets in advance in order to take advantage of available discounts.

With the Eurail pass, you can't just hop on any train and go. Many of the higher speed trains require reservations or supplemental fees that you have to pay before you get on the train. Here in Italy, the fine can be another 40 euro on top of the supplement if you haven't done this. There's information on the supplements on the Eurail website at: http://www.eurail.com/1_reservations_sup鈥?/a> , http://www.eurail.com/1_reservations_sup鈥?/a> , http://www.eurail.com/1_reservations_nig鈥?/a> .

You need to plan an itinerary and determine what Eurail pass meets your needs. Then you would need to go to the various national train websites and look up schedules and prices. You can find the national train sites simply by searching for "train" and the name of the country you're interested in - I've listed a few links below. Add any required supplements to the price of the Eurail pass and compare the overall cost to that of individual tickets. Note that there are discounts available for many individual tickets bought in advance. Here in Italy, the Amica fare provides a savings of up to 20% on the higher speed trains, but the tickets have to be bought at least one day in advance.

http://www.sncf.com/en_EN/flash/ (France)

About 75% of the time when I've done calculations for people who had detailed travel plans, it turned out to be cheaper to get individual tickets.

One possibility for saving money is using the night trains for longer trips. You can sleep in a berth using the night to travel and not also have a hotel bill for that night. Again, there are often discounts available if you buy tickets in advance.

There are also a number of budget airlines still operating. A couple of good resources include: http://www.whichbudget.com/en/ , http://www.skyscanner.net/|||If you want to see lots of Europe on the cheap, you can't beat a Eurail pass. It is incredibly convenient, you just go to the train station in what ever city you are in, decide where you want to go, and jump on the train! The passes cover MOST western European countries (when I went it did not cover Czech Republic), and as long as you stick to the non high speed trains you won't need to pay any extra to ride any train. I was able to visit 12 cities in 14 days.

If you wanted to take the high speed train (instead of the regular trains) called the "Thalys" from say Amsterdam to Paris, you would need to get a reservation and pay a supplement to be able to use your pass. Other than that the pass covers pretty much everything. In some cities the pass even covers public transport like trams and subways. It's a great value if you want to see many countries in a short amount of time.

When I went my friend and I would pick train routes that would take all night and then just sleep on the train thus avoiding having to pay for night in a youth hostel or hotel. The in the morning when you get to the station you throw your backpack in a locker at the station and hit the town. Some stations even have shower facilities.

I recommend picking up a current copy (they are published once a year) of "Let's Go Europe". They are jam packed with lots of practical and money saving tips for traveling in Europe, these guides are worth their weight in gold. Whether you want to go the backpack- youth hostel route or just inexpensive lodging, the Let's Go guides are great.

Another tip, food can get expensive if you have to eat out all the time so in order to save money my friend and I would find grocery stores wherever we were. We would load up on stuff to make sandwiches and fruit and then buy a box of Ziploc bags and carry it around in our backpacks. The Let's go guides are also full of info about places you can eat inexpensively.

I could go on and on because I love Europe, start with the Let's Go guide, decide what places you want to visit, and go for it! I hope you have a great time!|||Stay in hostiles and get take the regional trains if you can. Here in Germany we have this thing called the Bavaria ticket its a Flat rate. The hostel is a very cheap hotel where you share space with people. Also pop into the local grocery stores for snacks and drinks not gas stations. I also wouldn't exchange your american money for euro at the airport. Maybe just engorge to get you too a real bank, because the exchange rate at the bank is alot better. I would also avoid cabs if you can and rent a car. Cabs cost alot, and the exchange rate will kill you.|||Yes, eurorail is the cheapest way to save in transports.

Also don't eat in restaurants. Better to buy food in discount supermarkets. (well, there are really cheap restaurants but they are hard to find. Better ask some locals where to find those.)

Be careful on taking taxis - you can spend a lot of money!!!

you have also to win the temptation to buy souvenirs and other ridiculous expensive stuff.

Believe me: you can also bring cheap and original stuff from the countries you visited without spending a lot of money!|||Efcollegebreak.com has the cheapest way of flying to europe plus they take care of everything for you from airfare, hotels, transportation between countries and cities and tours.I go every year and have a blast..plus the prices are really good...prices are around 1,200 but they includes everything i mentioned...plus if you use the discount code Vincig7397 you can save more money...whats great about these trips is you can go all over your not just at one place they bring you to different countries|||Sharing a room in hostels is one of the cheapest ways to travel around. Try websites like www.hostels.com, www.hostelworld.com, www.hostelbookers.com or www.lonelyplanet.com.

If you can save on accommodation costs everything seems better.

Its cheaper to go by bus (www.eurolines.com) but its slower. I never got a eurorail pass as my sitiation was different but it depends on how much travel you are going to do and how long you are staying.

I did not buy much unless it was food ( and cheap hotels and some hostels provide breakfast then i ate big so i didn't have to buy much lunch!)..very few souveniers unless they were small and cheap. I took LOTS of photos and bought postcards.

Different times of the year are cheaper as well which can helps and it depends on where you go as the west and north is much more expensive than the east and south|||Stay in hostels or find Formula 1 hotels. http://www.hotelformule1.com/formule1/in鈥?/a> These hotels are very clean but you don't get a private bathroom in your room. I loved it!

You can save money by using a euro rail pass to get around from city to city. That's really the only way to go unless you'd like to hitch hike, which is what a lot of young people do here.
