What is the best method to save money?

I have a problem with saving money and this has come to my mind that I never get anything that I can turn to and say that it cost my money and all I buy is lots of sweets that makes my room full and makes it look like a candy world.I SERIOUSLY NEED A SOLID PLAN A WAY TO MAKE MY MONEY GROW AND T SAVE FOR THE DAY MY BABY COMES!|||Have a certain amount deducted directly from your bank account everytime you get paid. Move it into an account, bank, savings, mutual fund, brokerage account, whatever, that you do not have an ATM card associated and it is a pain to get access to. tba|||Hi,

I usually make sure I have a budget of outgoings and contol my shopping sprees. The following is a site I use which is packed full of tips advice and resources to help manage you're finances properly.

Thanks

Also start small with savings, maybe $5 a paycheck put it away save it and stick with that amount if you start to notice that you have extra money at the end of the week, bump up that amount to $10 dollars. Make a game out of it see how much money you can have left over at when you cash your next paycheck. Direct deposit is great as well, out of sight, out of mind.|||Do a personal audit of your spending. List all the things you spent money on in one month. Once you have the list, you can see what things are necessary, and which things were indulgences. Figure out what the amount of money you need in a month for the necessary things (like utility bills, mortgage/rent, etc), and the amount you will have left for discretionary spending or saving. Don't completely cut yourself off from buying things you want all at once, but definitely don't wait to take the first step in managing your finances|||Automatically and out-of-mind. Have a small percentage of your income deducted each month into an account where it is difficult to withdrawn from.

If you are using credit cards, consider using only cash. Individuals are more cautious when using cash.

Congrats on the baby.

What is a new technology that can help businesses save money by reducing energy use?

What is a new technology that can help businesses save money by reducing energy use? Specificaly in a company like Fidelity, AutoDesk, Margarittas Resturaunt or Cool Air Clean Planet?|||There are now so many devices available for reducing energy use. Among others:

1) use CFLs or compact floursescent lamps instead of the bar or circular flourescent lamps

2) install solar water heaters on the roofdeck and put in piping into your toilets and shower rooms

3) install solar cells for electricity use, either partially or complete replacement together with battery banks. You will need a separate, well-ventilated room for the batteries.

4) remove the curtains and put in outside the windows wooden or hard plastic jalousies to shield the rooms from direct sunlight but admit enough sunlight to switch off the lights.

5) sectionalize the electric wiring for the lighting such that you can switch off a portion of the lamps for the areas without people working.

6) instead of centralized airconditioning, put in window-type or stand-alone air con units. Again for those areas without people working, you can switch off the individual air con units.

7) where possible, use ceiling electric fans instead of aircon units. Or, use the combination of the two - - - fans at the start of the office hours. Later, when there are enough people in the room, switch on the aircons and switch off the fans.|||Hi Jenny,

There are actually quite a few companies that have become more environmentally conscious. They have also saved a lot of money on energy since they have begun to us alternative energy sources like wind and solar power.

The shoe company, Timberland is a really good example.

The solar panel at Timberland's Ontario distribution center was designed, engineered and installed by Northern Power; Sharp is the manufacturer of this 400 kW solar power system. This is Timberland's second distribution center to be powered in part by clean energy sources.

Its European Distribution Center in Enschede, Holland is 100% powered by wind, waste steam and small-scale hydro-power sources. Additionally, wind power generates energy and solar power heats 100% of the water at Timberland's Dominican Republic manufacturing facility.

Timberland's solar power initiative and its Earth Day volunteer activities are just two examples of the company's environmental stewardship. Timberland recently announced an environmentally-friendly packaging and labeling initiative that will debut later this year.

Hope this helps.|||It is called raising taxes. Soon, the work force will decline and the offices will not require so much energy to run the utilities.

How can i teach my friends to save money?

So i have a decent amount of money saved up. i got laid off my job and my friends are still working, yet i still seem to have more money than they do. The problem is that they are all broke. I love to go out and party with them but i usually end up spending money on them because i want to go out and have fun with them. How can i teach these people to save money. i can still go out and have fun without spending a ton of cash. im tired of taking care of my friends. what can i do? should i just stop hanging out with these people?|||omg!!! i know what you mean!! its not fair when you have to spend money on your friends just cause you enjoy their company and want them around.. and plus they arent very good friends if they rely on you to pay for things for them|||You are teaching them something ... that they can party on your dime. Don't stop hanging out with them but when their money runs out don't start picking up the tab. They will learn soon enough that if they want to stay longer they will have to either pace themselves or bring more cash.

Would i save money replacing gasoline with propane for my mower?

i want to convert my mower to run on 16.4 oz propane cans, would i save money on fuel or does propane cost more. and will my mower run as well if i convert it could it hurt my lawn mower?|||There are some engines that are not practical to convert, although it is entirely possible. I would say a push mower falls into this category. For a couple of reasons.

The engine is going to draw more fuel than that cylinder can adequately vapourize. The cylinder would "freeze up" fairly quickly. And this leads to the engine running lean. You can run a gasoline engine slightly lean and get away with it. But with propane, it is a very dry burning fuel and temperatures skyrocket when it gets lean. You would burn out the valves in pretty short order I think.

If you were a landscaper running a large riding machine 10 hours a day I could see investigating this a little further, but if you are just a consumer cutting a single yard once a week, I think you are asking for headaches that aren't really worth it...|||If your mower has a Briggs and Stratton engine, Impco makes a conversion kit for it. There are many small engines that have been converted to LPG, and they run just fine. Most of them are units that run for many hours such as light plants and pumps, so while propane is less expensive per btu than gasoline the cost of the conversion kit for a lawn mower very likely wouldn't be offset by the savings in fuel for quite a long time. Plus, those 16 ounce cans are by far the most expensive way you can purchase LPG. If you would like to pursue the idea try Alternate Fuels Technologies, Inc. at www.propanecarbs.com|||it would need a special valve seat combination.it wont have the power, and the regulator must be hooked to carb.it will start hard etc.oh and btw its an s.o.b. to tune in.ive got loads of experience with propane and couldnt get rid of these problems.that was the best it got.worked with 2 propane powered small engines.took the engine to a pro propane mechanic(i was a farm mechanic) first. he said there was no way it would even run.i got it running but barely.sometimes you could pull the rope over and over and nothing and sometimes 2nd or 3rd pull.another 1 i worked on was like 8 hp and took over 20 pulls to start when cold. warm it started first pull.

What are some ways to save money on dental work?

I've heard of dental tourism.

They take patients on for their students to practice and learn from. The procedures are cheaper but your visit to the dentist chair can be longer as your dental work must be supervised and graded. I've heard of lots of people doing this.|||say "SO LONG DENNAL PLAN!"|||You can try a dental school or a discount dental plan. I have used both and have saved money. What jobs, and where, will allow me to save money the quickest?

I graduated from college not too long ago. I want to pay back my sizeable student loans as soon as possible, as well as save some money.

I don't mind if I have no life for awhile, and I don't mind relocating anywhere in the world. My degrees are business-related, but I'll work in any field whatsoever. As long as I can save a lot of money without suffering a certain death, I'm fine with it.

Thanks!|||Join the Army. When you go to Iraq, your income is tax free. Also there is nothing to spend money on while you are there.|||If your looking for a home based business contact me|||I dont care what anybody says and I think you are crazy if you ignore what I say right now. I have lived in NY, PA, FL, CA, and Thailand. The Bay Area California is the highest paying area for jobs with the most opportunities (Just compare a career builder search in that area compared to any other area in the country, much more results will show up for jobs, much more jobs and much higher paying). The Bay Area spoiled me. So many jobs and so many fun things to do. If you live in San Francisco its way too expensive. I lived in San Jose and it was cheap compared to what I was making by commuting about 20 minutes north or even 40 minutes on some jobs to San Francisco. Plus they have cheap public transportation throughout the entire area. Need to get to work? No problem, you can take light rail train for only $1.00 a day to your work in San Jose, or get off Light Rail 20 minutes north and get on Cal Train for like $1.75 and ride it in to San Francisco. Or you could take the city busses and ride a bike from the bus stop to your home, they let you bring your bike on all the trains and you can even put your bike on the front of the busses..theres a rack there for your bike. So you dont even have to worry about insurance or gas if you dont want to and really want to save money. I make money on the internet now but that was the best jobs I ever had in my life when I lived there 2 years ago. I mean even cashiers in grocery stores are making more. They make $18 an hour to start and your rent for a 1 room apartment in san jose is about $700 at the cheapest so if you have college you can easily make more than that and save alot in a short time. Im back in Florida now and its like a joke compared to the jobs in the Bay.|||try relocating to the middle east and go into real estate. dubai is the best place right now. the industry is booming, economy is getting better every year, and money is being thrown around in property investments.

How can I save money on my wedding?

I have a tight budget of $5,000 to spend on my wedding. How can I save some money? I'm already pinching pennys. The most important part is where can I have the reception and ceremony at that won't cost a lot of money? Most of the places I'm looking at cost $4,000. Any ideas? I have 150 guests and I'm thinking of cutting it down to 100. Any tips or advise? Thanks for your help.|||I'm throwing my wedding on a really small budget. We're getting married at a local park ($25 to rent the spot we chose for the day), and having the reception at my parent's house. We're going to do a pasta buffet (different types) for dinner. We're having about 120 people including the bridal party. We're also having a candy "bar" for the favors. Each guest is going to get a favor box and they will be allowed to pick any candy(ies) that they want to take home or eat for the favor. It's all really cheap but I know that It will look really pretty. Hope that this can give you a few ideas.|||well do your own catering that saves a few hundred, and make and print your own invatations, i guess that saves a bit, its suposed to be the happiest day of your life (if you dont have children) go all out, you deserve it its the one day all eyes are on you, make the most of it and congrats|||Cutting the guest list down certainly helps. I also found that by choosing a day other than Saturday, many times venues offer discounts and don't have such high minimums.

Depending how close you are with your family and friends, this may be an option. A friend of mine had an "essentials" shower thrown for her. Her MOH coordinated it and people signed up for different things she would need. We bought things like the guestbook, cake topper, gift certificates for her hair and nails, one lady made her veil, someone bought her bridal jewelry, some people pooled and arranged for the cake - those kinds of things. :) It's not an idea that every family can pull off, I know - but she had a lot of support and we were all glad to be able to help in that way.|||GO TO THEKNOT.COM ITS FREE AND THEY HAVE A SECTION THAT YOU CAN PUT IN YOUR BUDGET AND AND THEY WILL GIVE YOU IDEAS THAT ARE IN YOUR RANGE. I DID AND IT IS WORKING VERY WELL|||* Cut down your guest list. This is usually the first step. Keep it to close friends and family.

* Choose a day and time of the year that isn't peak. May-September is peak wedding season so it's more expensive. Saturdays are more expensive than Friday evenings or Sunday days as well.

* Skim through your menu because oftentimes people can save on this but don't. Many venues offer an extensive menu with tons of food--see if you can pare it down and they can cut the cost.

* Have both ceremony and reception in the same place.

* Don't bother with renting limos. To cut costs on this, car pool. It's not necessary to rent a car for this day.

* Use seasonal flowers and keep it at a minimum. Roses are ordinarily the cheapest to use.

* Try to DIY some things. You can do that with invites and favors.

Ask for discounts, because oftentimes vendors are willing to cut you one but people don't ask.|||If you can, I would try cutting down your guest list. That will help you save a lot of money - and you might be able to find a venue that costs less for 100 people rather than 150 people.

I would check out your local city websites. Cities often have rental facilities for great prices. Most cities have community centers, parks, halls, etc. that are available for rent. You can also try Elk's Lodges and Women's Clubs - they usually have a lodge or hall that you can rent for a great price. My friend had hers at own of the Elk Lodges - it was very affordable and really nice.

The nice part about renting from your city or local clubs is that most of them allow you to bring in your own food - so you don't have to spend so much money on catering.

If you are trying to cut back on costs you can serve appetizers and fingerfoods instead of serving a full meal. A lot of couples do that these days in order to save some money.

Ask a friend to be the DJ - or simply hook up your IPOD or Laptop; then have a friend be the M.C. for the evening. A typical DJ usually costs about $800; so doing the music yourself will definitely save some money.

For your flowers - try looking up wholesale florists in your area or go to your local supermarket to get your flowers. My friend got her bouquets and centerpieces from Safeway; they did a beautiful job and they saved her a lot of money. The florist at Safeway let my friend bring her glass vases that she had purchased for 98 cents at Walmart and put together her centerpieces using those - so she saved a lot of money on vases. Use Carnations and Gerbera Daisies for your flowers - they come in lots of different colors and are much cheaper than using roses, orchids, etc.

Keep your bridal party small if you can - you will need to buy gifts for all members of your bridal party; the more you have in the bridal party the more gifts, more people at the rehearsal dinner, etc.

Instead of getting a regular wedding cake you can use sheet cakes. A friend of mine used sheet cakes that she got from Costco. The cake was great and ended up costing about $300 less than a regular cake.

There are definitely ways to make your wedding beautiful, but still stick to a budget. The only thing I would say that you definitely should not cut back on is the photography. These are photo's that you are going to have for the rest of your life and you can't do this day over, so be sure to get a good photographer to capture your special day.

I'm sure that you can do your wedding on the budget that you have - just get creative, ask friends and family for help, etc.

Good luck!|||You can get an outdoor venue for not much money (like a park or a place on a unviversity campus) Then you can get the food cheaply from a resturant you like. If you say which city you are in, you may get more specific suggestions. Also, you can do snacks instead of a meal|||for the decorations at the reception hall u can get most @ the dollar tree, ex. candles, bubbles, center pieces. U can get really creative on a budget. buy cheap things that look expensive under dim lighting. david bridal has 100.00 wedding dresses. dont hire a wedding planner look at ideal wedding pics online than copy the essentials for your wedding. goodluck

What are ways one can save money when shopping for Christmas Gifts?

Late November and the month of December is a busy time for retailers nationwide in the United States as Americans purchase Christmas gifts from both family and friends. Although this is the time of giving back to others, as a result, many Americans spend more than they can afford, charge too much on their credit cards, and go into debt with their charges.

What are some suggestions you would give to a friend in order to save money during the Christmas Season?|||Use only cash - you'll spend a whole lot less and you'll be guaranteed not to go into debt.|||Pay with cash or debit cards because credit cards are mostly a ripoff and you end up paying high interest and things you really don't need. Also, take a part of what you would normally spend and put it into a high yield savings account.|||Frankly, give experiences instead of gifts.

Gift six weeks of tanning to get ready for the summer.

Go out to lunch, the movies. Give them a gift of skydiving adventure

If your friend has kids, give them a coupon of your services for a night of free babysitting so they can go out on a night on the town.

Fix a couple weeks worth of homemade frozen meals for the elderly/disabled person.

Get a 3 month, 6 month or yearly bus pas or a bunch of bus tickets for a low income person you know who's always taking the city bus.

Make a goodie basket of snacks and popcorn and some coupons to a local video store for free rentals.

Donate $20 bucks to a local nonprofit in their name.

Above all, be realistic. Ignore the urge to outdo your neighbors and friends. Kids don't need mounds of toys to greet them Christmas morning. 3-5 toys each is more than enough.

Stockings can be filled with quirky, (and cheap) one of a kind stuff found at flea markets, party supply stores, thrift stores and dollar stores.

Take back the true meaning of Christmas. It's a time to be with family and friends and to be grateful for what we do have, not be upset with what we can't have.|||All of the answers I read to your question were good advice. However, the question was not how to save many on gifts but how to save when SHOPPING for gifts. Do you take risks. Wait until very close to Christmas. You take the chance that an item you wanted is sold out. Many times the stores you visit also have an Internet site. Often better pricing is found on the same items in the store because of lower overhead costs. Many gifts you may want to buy also come in good, better, and best. Do you know the range the person you are buying for usually chooses? Also big brand named items carry a higher cost. Locate the same type of gift with a more generic label.|||put a dollar limit on spending,,,,

look for buy one get one free deals,

burn a CD or a movies for a friend ,

re-use gift bags and bows,

give a Christmas ornament (they come in packages of 6 or more and divide up upon family and friends )

for large family's give a gift card for a grocery store or the movies / video store.|||Buy all of next years gifts the days after xmas

This year you are too late.

Dollar stores, but don't purchase Made in China food related items ie coffee mugs, eating and cooking utensils

China is paying the USA's debt with money they get by selling us product. We buy from them, they buy from us, everybody happy---Yes?

Or be like me.

Don't observe.|||For one thing, there isn't any reason somebody can't enjoy a homemade gift as much as a gift from the store. The problem is that during the Christmas season, many forget what the real reason for giving gifts is. It's not to impress them with how much you spent on them, it's not to show up the other gift givers with your expensive gift, No, it's to show love and appreciation for the contribution that that person has made to your life, and to show that you truly want them as a part of your life, and they aren't just an acquaintance. A gift doesn't have to be expensive or flashy, it just has to come from the heart.|||Use online coupons. They are a great way for saving money around the holidays. I got all of my christmas shopping done and saved money with coupons at OnlineStoreCoupon.com.

What are some ways to save money on our grocery bill?

We are doing pretty well on the budget, we still eat out way too often and are getting tired of the same foods. We are in a rut and need to save money. We have been eating things like 38 cent pot pies, 88cent tostino frozen pizzas, hot dogs, mac and cheese, hamburger helper, spagetti, ravioli, generic spagetti o's, chicken nuggets.....what are some new and different, more healthy, cheap food options?|||First off - clip coupons, it's sounds so stupid but as long as you only buy things you normally would, you'll be ok.

Second - cook more stuff in bulk, you can cook good and cheap if you shop at places like sams club and BJ's and just make big meals and freeze them.

Third - Just stop eating out. It's not that important.

Fourth - cut down on other things so you can afford better food, go by my motto - if you can't eat it you don't need it.|||shop a dollar store and by of brand every thing get a couple of store adds and see who has what cheap|||Do as I do clip coupons. I save an average of 75% of my gocery bill.|||Peanut butter and jelly sandwiches.|||have you tried clipping coupons out of the newspapers and magazines? my mother does this and in the long run,we save quite a bit of money whenever we go grocery shopping, and we also take our soda cans and bottles to the store to put into their recycling machines and we get money back as well as keeping our earth green and clean. you kill two birds with one stone.|||Go to the library and check out a cookbook like Betty Crocker or Taste of Home has a specail section devoted to meals on a budget. the only way is to shop sales

standard tomato sauce is more than a buck daily but as low as 59 cents on sale BUY a case/24

Campbell's tomato chicken and mushroom also go on sale at 50% off.

Just remember under the free market value (???)

IT does NOT work any more

take the "organic dung" the price of common (artificial?)produce has increased 100+%

grocer can raise the price just by discounting for a week.. then advertise in the sale the new price next week.

Like we are fools....But If you need you pay.|||Whenever something is not perishable like peanut butter, or cereal or it is freezable like chicken breasts or ground beef and they go on sale I'll buy double. Its like having a sale for 2 weeks instead of one. I buy fresh not spaghetti o's (too much sugar!) or hamburger helper (too much salt). Try a new recipe once in a while. Its always cheaper than eating out so I never skimp on quality ingredients. If you taste something really good ask the cook for the recipe. They are usually flattered and you learn a lot. Ask for cookbooks for gifts.|||As a single mom I have been "living " on a food budget. lol. Some things you can do...

-Plan your dinner menu a week in advance and buy for the week.

- Chicken goes a LONG way...you can fried chicken, baked, broiled, rotissere, etc etc. It's very budget friendly and possibilities are almost endless

- cut back on the instant foods, they cost more and are less filling

- Shop the "poor man" grocery stores. Try stores like Aldi and Food 4 Less. Great values to be found.

- Buy in Bulk and store extra. If you have amembership to Sam's CLub or BJ's buy food there and freeze whatever is left over for another day....trust me you'll save $$ this way

- Clip coupons or sign up for grocery store membership cards..theyre usually free and save you tons

- If you buy meats, buy less common cuts, for exaomple if you eat porkchops...opt for the assorted cuts instead of leoin end or whatever. you can get a pack of chops at 5-9 dollars compared to 13-20 dollars for a loin end pack

- shop sales.....can u survive a week without the steak that goes on sale next week?

There are a lot more that I simply cant think of right now but hope this helps.

Can you really save money through social networking sites?

My friends keep begging me to join Facebook and Twitter. Some of them claim that they find a lot of money saving offers on these sites. How does this work, and it if is really real, how much can you save, and on what?|||You can save money by networking (in a social sense) with more people. Facebook allows you to maintain your communication with others so that you have more sources for advice, product reviews, etc by asking friends. There also might be groups which allow you to discuss things that will save you money. Fan pages for particular companies might offer coupons or special offers. Personally, I've saved money by looking up parties at bars that have VIP parties and then I go to the bar and give the name of the host. This gets me cheap drinks even though I didn't know the host.

Finally, there are lots of advertisements on the side of Facebook. Mine are usually related to "free" electronics, dating sites, or how to make money from home. A huge number of these ads are scams or otherwise dangerous. I don't recommend paying them much attention. Their chance of saving you money is low.

Twitter can be used to find things too if you know what you're looking for. When the Canon G11 came out, I used search.twitter.com to track people chatting about the G11. I was able to track it rollign out at Best Buys across the United States and determine that I would get it at the same speed online. I did not need to open my own Twitter account to do this. Unless you have people "following you", you will not get feedback on random questions you ask. Here too, the saving potential comes from using Twitter to connect with others and get feedback. The technology itself doesn't save you money.|||Yes, if you will become a fan of a certain brand or business, they will often reward you with high value coupons and other discounts. How to save money and not spend it?

Im a teenager and I'm saving up for a computer. All I get is like allowance for like 5 bucks a week, and a little over 100 for birthday and Christmas. How can I save this money? I need to think of a plan so I can save most of the money but have some to spend too. By the end of this month, I should have over $350. Help!|||throw it in the bank and sit on it and keep depositing money, till you have enough for what you want|||http://goarticles.com/article/Infinity-Downline-We-will-pay-your-way-in/4754883/|||Put it in a savings account or give it to your parents to hold onto and make sure you don't spend it.

I need to save a large amount of money in a short amount of time - what is the best way to do this?

My dog needs an operation, she's torn her cruciate ligament (her knee) and is limping and in pain. She means the world to me and I need to get it done ASAP - it tears my heart out to see her in pain. The operation will cost around $500 plus boarding fees for a few days. How can I save money within a short amount of time (i.e. a month at worst), while still paying bills and debts off?!

Please don't reply if you hate dogs or are going to be negative about spending a large sum on a dog.

I am genuine and I hope those who answer this are too.|||Borrow the money. Put it on your credit card, just get the dog fixed. Then get a part time jog if you have to to pay the money back as fast as you can. You'd be surprised at the things you can save money on if you put your mind to it. No Starbucks, no eating out, etc. I spent over $6000 on my last dog to give him a high quality of life during his last year. I worked 60 hour weeks to do it.|||im only 15 years old, but can't you get a loan from your bank?and then pay in small payments?|||Well, the first thing you can do is look at your spending habits. What can you live without for a month ? Things like meals out, cappucinos, and luxury bath/grooming products can add up pretty quickly. Try to substitute generic or lower quality items for the neccessities and sacrifice the luxury items altogether.

Next, contact your utility companies and ask to skip a payment. Often they will work with you if you have a good payment history. I'd be vague about the reason - just say "medical expenses."

Finally, look at your debts, and pay just the minimum for a month or two, to free up the cash needed to pay for your dog's operation.|||Take $200 and place it all on "Black" in a Casino.

If you hit, you are up $200!

But to pay back the loan, you will need to save more money than you did before the loan.

Try quitting smoking, don't go to Starbucks, don't stop off at the doughnut store on the way to work, don't eat out at lunchtime and don't go out to movies for a month or two. Buy store-brand or generic food instead of the name brand.

How to save as much money as possible?

Okay, to make a long story short, lately I've had a few appliances of mine that have stopped working, and I want to replace them, so I've been trying to conserve more money. Lately I've been trying to use less water, cutting off appliances that aren't being used, etc.

What more can I do to save money on bills %26amp; such?|||Well, if there's one thing my mother has taught me well, it's how to save money. She learned this from her mother and she's been doing it as well. I assume you have some sort of job with a steady income yes? Well, each time you go to cash your paycheck, take a portion of that money into savings. The amount of money you put in is determined on how much you make and, of course, how much you need. So, let's say you make only $3,00 a month. Put $100-200 in savings. I'm still young, and what little money I do make as a Pharm. asst, I always put $15-50 in savings. If you want to make your money go farther over a longer period of time, consider investing it. You can take classes in this and there are many books available to help get you started. My grandmother never made more than $45,000 a year in her life, yet she managed to retire a millionairess and is enjoying it all on beach in southern Florida. Amazing what a little clever investing can do :)

Good luck with your finances!|||When buying appliance look for energy efficient appliances, turn heating down and put on more layers of clothing. If you use a kettle only use what you need and only use washing machine when you have enough clothing to fill it up and wash on the lowest temperature possible. Energy efficient light bulbs are good as well. Put lids on saucepan when cooking food to make food cook quicker, thus saving energy on gas/electricity. Do a bulk of ironing, not a little at a time|||Hulk

Ben Franklin said the best way to make a penny is to save a penny. You will save much more money by looking at the items you spend the money on. Cutting a Starbucks off 7 times per week vs McDonalds coffee will save you big ... Stop the impulse purchases at the market and stores ... take lunch instead of buying lunch. Fix meals don't eat out. The key is taking the money and depositing it in a separate savings account- so you don't spend it!

Lastly, set up a savings account with automatic transfers from your checking to savings on payday, or every friday of $10.... something to begin the savings process. See if your employer offers a U.S. savings bond plan.

This type of self control will save you real money.... and quickly. As opposed to turning off the lights. BUT, you must take the saved money and set it aside! If you keep it in your checking account, or worse your wallet, it will just disappear.

Saving is an art.... become a Rembrandt! :-)

What are some ways to save money on a trip to Paris?

I want to plan a trip to Paris (France) with my wife. However, it looks like it's going to be really expensive. Are there any ways to save a substantial amount of money on the flight, hotel, food, anything like that? Obviously we'll do as many free or cheap tourist attractions as we can, but the flight and the hotel are really going to kill us. Ironically, I think I found the cheapest flight not on any of the discount travel sites but on Air France's website. Thanks!|||Paris is certainly not cheap but it is no more expensive than New York or London. The notion that "A cheap bottle of wine can be a few hundred euros." is absurd.

Yes, you can stay at the Crillon or George V where the cheapest room is 720 euros but there are also charming little centrally located hotels where a double will cost you around 100 euros a night, something you'd be hard pressed to find in Manhattan or Central London. Mind you, there won't be a snack bar, movies on demand, room service, or maybe even an elevator and the place will look nothing like the Holiday Inn in Omaha but6 that's part of the charm. Try, for example, the Hotel St. Andre des Arts ( http://www.france-hotel-guide.com/h75006鈥?/a> ) or the Hotel de Nesle ( http://www.hoteldenesleparis.com/ ) I've stayed at both many, many times over the last 35 years of visiting Paris. Fun, quirky and very centrally located in the posh 6th arrondissment.

Alternatively, think about renting an apartment if your stay will be a week or longer. This is what I usually do. There are many reliable companies that do short term rentals for tourists. Try http://www.rentalfrance.com/ or http://www.locaflat.com/.

As for food, yes, Paris is the home of $30 hamburger and the $5 cup of coffee, especially in places that cater primarily to tourists and/or expense account toting local businessmen. Yes, you can have dinner at Taillevent and expect to spend something on the order of $500 per person.

On the other hand you can hit one of the dozens of restaurant along the rue Mouffetard in the Latin Quarter (where Hemingway used to stay in the 1930's) and have a three course meal and a glass of wine at lunch for 12-15 euros per person. In the mid range of prices (around 30-50 euros pp) you can have some truly wonderful food in any one of hundreds of restaurants, cafes, and bistros. Check our John Talbot's food blog (he's an American food critic who lives in Paris) here: http://johntalbottsparis.typepad.com/

There are also a multitude of cheap Asian restaurants with Japanese, Chinese, Vietnamese and Indian food at very reasonable prices. There are two "China towns" one in Belleville in the north of the city and the other in the south around the Place d'Italie. Indian restaurants are concentrated in the area immediately north of the Gare du Nord.

There are also a lot o cheap places to eat on the rue de la Huchette and surrounding area in the Latin Quarter but most of them are pretty dismal.

There are also a lot of crepe stands, sandwich shops and other places serving food to take away. They may not be haute cuisine but they are usually alright and generally pretty cheap. A crepe with ham and cheese and a coke, for example, makes a perfectly decent lunch and will cost you less than 10 euros.

There are a plenty of people who live in Paris including a lot of impecunious students, artists, and musicians (most of my friends in Paris fall into these categories) who manage to lead pleasant lives without spending vast sums of money. Stay away from obvious tourist traps, be a bit adventurous (order the daily special in some little cafe off the beaten tourist path even if you don't know what it is), and be flexible (does a hotel room really need a minibar?). You'll find its not as expensive as some people make it out to be.|||Yes being born in Paris, I know that its really expensive and airfare is overwhelming! It depends what hotel you are staying in and try to limit your self from going to some of the expensive restaurants in Paris. A cheap bottle of wine can be a few hundred euros. So try not to drink wine. Other than that every attraction costs something and it's pretty tough to save money. I no longer live there but what hotel are you staying in, what's your budget, and what do you want to see?|||First of all limit your visits to the world famous restaurants. Yes they are excellent but are so expensive. We have found the easiest way to really save money is to avoid the hotel eating places.

Get to know your neighborhood Monoprix. A very large selection of excellent food probably will cost one fourth of what you pay at a sit down restaurant. Same with the local bakery. Just wonderful prices and a bit of fun just to search around. Same goes for the many chocolate shops. Also, get to know exactly how the Paris metro works. Might take you a few hours to figure it out completely, but it is the way to get around. Taxis will get you broke quickly. Check all the attractions. There are some completely free days and many kinds of discounts. Paris certainly is expensive, but you will manage if you are just a bit careful|||There are really cheap and broadly acceptable hotels in the Marais district and one of the best and most famous cheapo cheapo places is the old Esmeralda Hotel but you will need to book several weeks in advance. Fruit and vegetables in the markets and the Rue Moufetard are always 100% top quality and cheap. The Louvre is free on Sundays (or at least it was in 2006) Small bistro's off the beaten track like Le chat qui peche in the Rue du Chat qui Peche are quaint and often brilliantly good food.Old Navy on the Boulevard St Germain is cool and substantial but places like Les deux Magots (where Sartre used to drink) and Cafe de La Paix are astronomically expensive

For hotel and accommodation:

Finding a cheap hotel in Paris, France can be a tall order especially if the euro is valued higher than the dollar.

1. Do Your Research on Paris Neighborhoods

Your goal should be to find a budget hotel in Paris that is also in an area that is safe and close to a metro stop as well as the attractions you want to see. Paris is divided into 20 unique neighborhoods called arrondissements. Each neighborhood has its own special characteristics. Do your research to find the neighborhood that works for you. Central Paris arrondissements to consider are 1,4,5,6 and 7. Use mappy.com to enter in an attraction and look for hotels close to the attraction.

2. Research Budget Paris Hotels Online

Try venere.com, parishotels.com, parisby.com, cybevasion.com, expedia, and priceline to research hotels in the neighborhoods you've selected. Call the hotels you like directly to get an idea of the customer service available and to determine room facilities and availability. Make sure you read as many reviews as possible. The tripadvisor.com Paris forums are a good spot to ask questions and look for hotel reviews. Consider traveling during the off-season periods between November and March in order to get better pricing on Paris accomodations.

3. Consider Staying in a Paris Apartment

Staying in an apartment in Paris may be a cheaper option if you aren't able to find a hotel to suit your needs. Use vrbo.com, lodjee.com and homeaway.com to research apartment rentals. You can use eatinparis.com to find neighborhood restaurants. Parismarkets.net will lead you to Paris open air market locations and other sightseeing ideas.

Some apartment can found here :

http://lodjee.com/paris

http://www.vrbo.com/

For cheap sightseeing :

1. Stroll along the Champs Elys茅es. One of the most famous--and dramatic--boulevards in the world

2. Enjoy free Sundays at Paris' major museums. The art museums of Paris are numerous and legendary. Fortunately for visitors, they are also free on the first Sunday of each month. Included are such popular sites as the Louvre

3. Explore the "always free" smaller museums. In addition to free Sundays, several of Paris' smaller museums offer free admission every day. Among these are the Mus茅e Fragonard (a study of France's perfume industry), the Victor Hugo House (the Place des Vosges townhouse where the famous 19th-century writer lived and worked) and the Mus茅e Carnavalet (the museum of the history of Paris).

4. Marvel at Notre Dame Cathedral. Yes, climbing to the top of the tower will cost you a couple of euros, but exploring the grandeur of the cathedral is free. Make sure to walk all the way around the outside of the building; the best view of it is from the rear. A good way to get a feel for this Gothic church is to attend services there. There are many offered in English.

Hope this helpful|||To add to Rillifane's excellent answer and Reinaldo's tip, here are a few of mine.

Monoprix is a supermarket chain. You have a few of these in Paris, Monoprix, Franprix, Leclerc, SuperU... tucked away from the tourist areas. You will easily save 5 to 10 dollars just by buying a big bottle of water (or soda) rather than four cans in a tourist area.

Do not fall to the lure of the quick sandwich or crepe in the tourist area, even if they look not that expensive they will make a dent one crepe at a time in your budget.

Do not take taxis, buses, metro and tramways are way cheaper and the dense network makes it easy to visit Paris. You have travel cards geared for tourists, one day, two days etc...

From the airport to Paris you can take the RER train or the coach shuttles, taxi is once more quite expensive. Don't accept taxi rides in cars without the taxi sign on the roof, you'll get ripped.

If you eat at restaurants careful about the aside, especially the drinks and coffee, this is where the restaurants get their biggest margin and just a bottle of wine and two coffee can add up to a third of your bill. Soda too can be expensive.

What are some ways to save money on groceries?

I am looking for ways to save money. What are some good ones for the grocery bill?|||Use coupons, buy items that are on sale (and if you use the items a lot like canned veggies buy extra and save them for later, when they're not on sale), don't buy too much produce (you just have to throw it out if it goes bad), look into places like Costco, buy store brands instead of name brands, buy meat in bulk (ie the 5 lb package of hamburger) and divide it into freezer bags at home, plan out your meals before going to the store (so you're less tempted to buy impulse items every time you go to the store- plus you save on gas). Some of the cheaper stores I shop at do not have good produce so I'll buy nonperishables at the cheaper stores about once a month and buy my produce on a weekly basis. Good luck!|||basically you shop when there are sales going on, use coupons, you can go to stores like Aldi's, compare foods, save a lot, walmart stores like that sometimes have the same as a regular super market just a lower price, they only thing i suggest is don't buy meat from them, but coupons can save you alot of money.|||Save coupons.

By store brand items.

Shop several different stores.

Look for specials.

Stock up when something you use often is on sale.

Never shop for groceries while hungry.

Larger containers are not always the best buy.

Watch your sales receipts ,some times mistakes are made.|||Have a selection of favorite easy recipes eg. spaghetti bolognese bangers and mash these are inexpensive recipes, and don't shop when hungry. Use a slow cooker to make tasty meals from less expensive cuts of meat use half and freeze the rest in portions for use later. Do not buy two to get one free what ever it is unless it is dish washer tablets. |||I'd say my biggest money saver is by watching the sales ad's and buying extra's once it's on sale. Also, making a grocery list really helps from doing any impulse buys.

Also, for myself, it works best to figure out what my meals will be for the week, make my list of what I need and buy only that. Many times my list will correspond with what's on sale for the week. I plan a couple last minute meals so if you don't have time to prepare what you originally did, then you have backup.

Clip any coupons that you can. Do not clip the ones of things you don't use or don't need. Many people waste money trying new products just because they have a coupon.

Clean your cupboards out every so often and use your food up. Not eating leftovers and throwing outdated food really adds up in a years time.

|||Make out a weekly menu and plan your groceries according to the menu. Make a list and stick to it.

Double up on menu items. For example, make pot roast on Sunday, and cut up leftover roast for beef and macaroni later in the week.

Watch for sale items and stock up on items when they are on sale.|||shoplifting, bin raiding, eat at other ppls houses, raid the local allotments,|||Plan your meals ahead using the coupons you have as your guide. Then stick to the plan when you shop.

The best thing to do is set a jar, bank, box, or whatever off to the side. Then each time you get your weekly pay, put a little into the ____. Don't touch this money until you are ready to go on your trip. This way you will be able to have a good time.

How do I save money better, without spending it too?

I have been saving up for a new laptop (i'm 14), and every time I go somewhere, I end up spending all of my money. I am trying the concept of saving loose change in a jar. I don't have a job, so saving up is a slow process. I just got a worker's permit, so I will probably get a job soon. I am going to ask at places like Kroger and Chick-Fil-A. Any ideas on how to save money faster without spending it all?|||If you're able to get a regular job, here's what you do: most larger businesses prefer to pay you electronically, rather than giving you a check. When they ask how they should handle the electronic payment, give them the name of the bank where you have a savings account (if you don't have one--start one now). Your salary will go into the bank. In order to take any of it out, you'll have to go to the bank, which will discourage you from spending most of it.|||Learn how to save now and it will definitely help you when you get older. Save the loose change in jar is a good idea. After a few months you could have about 100 bucks. But you have to leave it alone and don't dip in to it. Talk to you parents and see if they can match what you save so it will give you a more attainable goal. So if you save up 500 bucks they'll put in 500 bucks towards your computer. Not sure if you're old enough, but I would try to open a savings account. Every check you receive put 10-20% of it in your savings account. Don't touch your savings account and eventually you'll have a good chunk of change. You're not driving so you don't have to worry about gas money and you're parents buy the grocery's. If you have a cell phone I'm sure your parents pay for that too so you should have your computer in no time.|||Smart child. But anyways, If i save money every month, how much should i save, and will i have enough to buy a decent car in 4 years?|||depends on how much you want to spend on the car but if you save $100-$150 per month for one year you could get a decent car for somewhere around $1200-$1800 but the expensive part is the insurance. So it will take getting a job and working decent amount to save up

THE ONLY WAY TO SAVE IS: DON'T SPEND!, and if you have to spend, maximize that dollar to go as far as it can by shopping wisely.

Surprisingly, there is much you can access/control/have for keeps just by asking and not spending. Trade an outfit with a friend. You each have something new to wear and no $ changes hands. Learn to repair/update stuff. For example, I used to shop in Walmart but look for the quality in details such as craftmanship, then update the piece with affordable pretty buttons, glitter etc to create a one-of-a-kind, affordable, quality piece. That way the outfit LOOKS like it cost way more than it did.

When you do spend, ideally use that $ to invest in something that does not eventually get flushed, tossed, or sucked up in smoke. For example, buy Burger King with that $ and it will get flushed later. But if you buy ingredients for a cake and sell the slices... Now do you see where I am going with this?

Invest in an activity that can become an income earner. Babysit, walk the dog, bake and sell cookies. Earn, Save, Spend oh so little. Earn some more, save some more, and so on.

How would you convince people to save money?

In a society that doesn't save enough for retirement or for a rainy day, how would you propose to convince people to save money?|||I work in the financial service industry and I don't need to convince people to save money. People know what's going on with their money, they just need someone to show them what to do. I go to people's homes and people tell me their situation. I look at what they are currently spending on and recommend solutions on how to save money.

For example, lets say a client have life insurance with $100,000 coverage and he spend $2000/year on it. I have a solution that can lower his premiums to $1000/year and be able to keep the same coverage.

Or the client have a mortgage payment of $1500/month with 28 years left to pay on it. I have a solution that can lower your monthly payment to $1000/month and help you pay it off in 21 years.

From these two products alone, I show what the client can do with the money I saved them. First, I would apply some of the savings toward the mortgage payment to lower the principal. As for the rest, I would show the client on how to invest it. I would show them the Dollar Cost Averaging concept and the value of investing on a monthly basis. From those two examples, I saved that client about $583/month. If the client invest $583/month with a 12% rate of return, in 20 years he will have $582,503. If the client invest just $300/month with a 12% rate of return, in 20 years he will have about $300k.

When I sit down with the client, I find out what their needs are and what their goals are. Then I put together a financial need analysis (FNA). The amount I saved them may not be enough for their retirement. So what I do next is a budget worksheet to help them cut down on their spending. If that's still not enough savings, I offer them a career opportunity and they can work part-time or spare-time while keeping their full time job.|||Be mindful!|||I wouldn't even try, it's their life and I have no right to interfere. If they asked for advice, then they wouldn't have need for convincing.|||Start at a very young age first.

Teach that every single thing in life costs money.

Teach children to save their money whether they earn it or it's given as a gift.

Then, show how it works. When we need or want something, we go out and shop and then pay for it.

It's important to teach that in this world, we work for our money and then we spend our money.

A person needs to understand the basic concepts

of earning, saving and spending wisely at a young age.

I think when you spend the money you earned you will understand how it all works as opposed to having all bought for you.|||Don't bother, dude. You're not going to be successful doing that. People now have the attitude "enjoy your life to the max". They don't even know what saving is. I just heard that the average person in N. America saves only 1 % of their income. So, I say the hell with them, let them screw themselves up.

What are some creative ways to save money?

I need to save money for a special occassion, and I have always had problems with saving! Please Help me figure out a good way to do this!!!!|||I have the same problem and here is how I have solved it....

I am 30 years old and while I am a little embarrassed to say that this is really my savings method, I am confident that it will work for you too.

Materials needed:

- 1 shoe box

- Couple rolls of Duct tape (yes...2)

Take a shoe box and cut a slit in the top of the cover big enough so that you can stuff a folded bill in it.

Place the lid back on the shoe box and then proceed to use both rolls of duct tape to wrap the shoe box in a manner that you will not be able to see any part of the shoe box, I typically use one roll to go one way on the shoe box and the next roll to go perpendicular to the previous direction.

Once the box is secure here is what you need to do.....

Write a date on the box. The date will be the date that you can open the box.

Stuff only 1 and 5 dollar bills every day that you have some in your pocket or wallet or purse.

You will be surprised how quickly you will save up 1000's of dollars.

The best part is that you will really save lots of money....also, when you are just starting, you are seriously deterred from opening shoe box because it is so much of a pain in the a#$ that you will not find it worth your time to unravel it for a couple of hundred dollars.

Happy saving!|||That's such a great idea. I'm going to try that myself! :-)

|||First of all, change your way of thinking. In the past you have had trouble saving, but don't focus on that. Focus on the special occasion and how you will make a commitment to save for it. Commitment is not all it takes. You also need to change your habits. Once you get in the habit of saving, it becomes easier. I think James_H had a good suggestion w/the duct tape around the box. You can throw any loose change %26amp; dollars into that. I would also save 10% of everything you make. It seems like you need that 10%, but you will find that you can live without it. Each time I am paid I IMMEDIATELY transfer 10% of the gross to my Ing savings account (ingdirect.com). The great thing about having an account online is that I can't simply withdraw the money because I don't have a card for the account (my choice). Once you see the 10% growing, you will be inspired to continue the habit. And you should try to keep the habit long after the occasion is over.|||Buy a 1999 (Or newer) Volskwagen with a Diesel Engine.|||just do not spend it|||spend less on food

I also check out the supermarket discounted shelves for cheap meat (stuff that is about to go out of date) and buy to freeze - that saves loads if you have a good discounting supermarket near you. coupons are good and here in the Uk I usually find the big stores like Tesco take coupons even if you didn't buy the product. we have also downsized on brands and buy supermarket own or no frills brands alot. Eat more pulses too, they work out cheap. markets are good for fruit and veg, eat what's in season and it's pretty cheap. good luck with your moneysaving.|||If you can get WIC get that. 2. Buy a TON if it's a great sale %26amp; you know you won't see if for a while.

3. Usually in each section what you are looking for is always on sale, though it may be the generic kind. So just go with that one.

I tried clipping coupons for awhile but it became such a hassle to always get the paper, go through it, then remember to bring coupons and dig through them all to find some for items you need and it didn't save me all that much. I think coupon clipping has to be well planned out to be effective.

Also if you have a place like Costco, their generic stuff is pretty good, like their laundry detergent and all, so buy that stuff there and paper towels, etc. - buy it in bulk (you can also buy bulk meat if you have a big freezer and that save s a ton)|||we spend about 100 dollars a week on food for a family of 5.. i use any coupons i can find in the papers for things that i use, i don't have a printer right now or else i'd be looking online for coupons as well!

I shop sales at the main grocery stores, I get things like laundry detergent, dish washer soap, toilet paper, etc, at Big Lots. I go to the grocery store mid-week early in the morning and get the cuts of beef from yesterday that have been marked down 20-40%.

I also use a lot of frozen vegetables. Store brand peas, corn, green beans, carrots, etc. They are a lot cheaper then fresh and you don't have to use them right away which is awesome.

I love store-brand stuff. And it goes on sale a lot. I was getting great pasta for 33 cents a lb. Day old bread stores are great if your family likes donuts and bagels and of course bread. When your family goes through it quick anyway the day old part isn't a big deal.|||We do a lot of bulk shopping and have a big freezer.

Also, very little eating out. If we're not gonna have time for a regular dinner, my wife will cook it earlier in the week and we'll heat it up that night.|||I buy things like meat and cheese that I can freeze only when it's on sale. I have a deep freeze and also got a quarter of a cow, it comes out to $2/lb for all different cuts of meat all packaged and cut up. I also stock up on nonperishables such as spaghetti sauce, mac and cheese, noodles, canned soup, when on sale. If nothing I need is on sale I only buy weekly perishable foods like milk, bread, and fruit. Once every couple months I stock up on the sale stuff and spend a good $100-150, each other week our bill is only $25-30 for 3 people.|||i usually buy whats on sale and a lot of it...i freeze sale veggies they can be used for almost any meal and if they are on sale they are usually cheap! and cook, dont eat out. We also shop at price clubs like Cosco

Then again, we don't spend a lot because we're not big meat eaters, which costs a lot.

You can find coupons everywhere, literally just google it.

Be sure to check your grocery flyers for their sales.|||We have started saving a lot of money by changing our shopping habits. We go shopping now with a very clear list of what we need for the week. The list is based on a menu that we put together before we leave the house. I've found that developing the menu on the fly at the grocery store led us to buy way more food than we needed. We'd end up throwing a lot of food away at the end of the week.

I've also found that we're now buying fewer packaged products and making things from scratch more. This saves lots of money. On the weekend, we make two or three great main great dishes from scratch (vegetarian chili, lentil and mushroom soup, parmesean crusted chicken, lasagna, etc.) and eat the leftovers for several meals. This also saves us tons of time during the week.

Buying less meat saves a lot of money too. We've been using more beans and other proteins (Quinoa is great!) instead of meat, which is quite pricey.

I've read that if you stay around the perimeter of the store, you'll eat more healthfully and reduce your grocery bill!

There are several coupon sites, but I've found that we don't buy most of the items that the coupons are for because they're mostly packaged stuff. Not that we don't buy ANY packaged items. The store promos are usually pretty good, though. They include meat, eggs and produce, so I always look at what's on sale at the store.|||I work for a foodservice warehouse and our discount helps a whole bunch.

-I look through all ads that come to my door and will go to a different grocery store if their weekly deals can be used.

-When I do find deals, I stock up. They had a 39 cent per pound sale on turkey. You better believe I took up that offer, cooked the bird, and froze the meat for later use.

-I buy bulk products that can be "mixed and matched." Bargain bags/packages of meat, frozen veggies (or buy fresh and freeze yourself,) and staples like beans, rice, and noodles are cheap, store well, and like said, you can mix and match to make different recipies.

-And yes, I am a coupon master. Recently, I've been saving about 20% of my total bill just with the coupons I clip. With a typical bill of $100...I save $20. I get bragging rights for that!

拢 25 A YEAR FOR INDUVIDUAL MEMBERSHIP EXC VAT|||I admit, I was pretty horrible, when it came to sticking to the grocery budget, but now that my husbands' hours have been cut, I *have* to.

I found some websites that give advice about cooking from scratch, which saves quite a bit, compared to convenience foods... One I like (and I know it sounds silly) is:

hillbillyhousewife.com

Type in menus on a dime, and they have some ebooks, which tell ways of saving money, too.

I always make a list, and try to stick to it... Without it, you're much more likely to over-spend; tossing unnecessary things in the cart. I also see what weekly (I shop every Friday) specials they have, and try to plan menus around that.

I make every attempt to keep it *under* budget, so there's a rollover fund, for next week; which helps when there's 'extras,' such as trash bags, paper towels, etc., that suddenly need to be bought... When I find I have more money than usual (thanks to saving, the previous week), I buy more than usual, so there's less to buy, next time... Makes it faster.

I buy noodles and gravy packets, and meats, and usually we have enough for lunch the next day, which cuts costs... I have 4 kids, so we're a family of 6, and I manage to feed us all on $160 or less, a week. (True, the baby is nursing, but, still!) We also have two cats, two turtles, and 5 dogs!! None of us go hungry... We even had money for extras, before his hours got cut; now we use leftover grocery money, if we need it.

Buying in bulk can help, and I use powdered milk, at least half the time, which saves on milk costs... Powered milk is great in recipes, too! Pastas are really easy---and fairly cheap---to buy LOTS, and have plenty for another meal.

We even have take-out, one night a week; using coupons, or having it on their bargain night... We rarely drink pop; we all love water. :)

Good luck!|||Buy fruits and veggies at your local farmers market. They're cheaper and most of time, they are organic, they just don't have the "organic stamp of approval" from the FDA. (The process of becoming a certified organic farmer is costly and most small farmers can't afford it). If you have room in your yard, start a small garden with the veggies that your family eats the most of. My family loves tomatoes and cucumbers so I grow them outside in the summer months and I grow them inside in the winter months. Freeze leftovers so they last longer. Buy in bulk and use coupons.|||www.allworldcoupons.com has a tab for grocery coupons...I believe they utilize 2 different sites...hope that helps...|||This is a great site for free coupons

Think of something expensive you want to buy in the future with your savings - a car, a vacation... whatever. But make it something really specific. Find pictures of what you want, in magazines, or on the internet. For example, if it's a vacation, pick the perfect place that you want to go, and find lots of pictures of the place. If you find the pictures online, print them out. Tape those pictures to a box or envelope, and keep your savings in that envelope. It's a lot harder to "steal" your savings from a specific goal, especially when you can literally see that goal when you go to get the money.

This can also work if you put your money in a bank account. Just take the pictures and wrap them around your ATM card or your box of withdrawal slips.
