What are ways to save money for college at 14?

I'm graduating from 8th grade this June and I really want to go to a UC college like UCLA or UC Irvine but it is very expensive! I checked out the website and it was $25,000 per year for undergraduates. What are some ways that I can save money this early?|||Ask your parents to help you start a 529 Account. Here's a good site to explain 529 plans to you http://www.savingforcollege.com/intro_to鈥?/a> In fact, they have some great info on saving for college.

UC's are some of the cheapest university options around. You don't have to sacrifice quality of education for the money. Tuition for a school like Berkeley is about $4500 per semester, whereas it's about $15000 per semester at a private school like USC. I know this because I went to both.

Apply to lots of scholarships and don't be afraid to apply to financial aid. I used http://www.fastweb.com when I was applying (many, many years ago).

You can work odd jobs to save up for now. When you get older, then you can get a regular part-time job.

When you want a luxury good like a new iPod, save up for the iPod, but buy a cheaper alternative. Pocket the change in your 529 account.

Think about selling old clothes. If they're in decent condition, then sell them to a consignment store. Or hold regular garage sales and put the money in a college fund.

When holidays and birthdays roll around, specify that while you appreciate the gifts, you'd much rather have some money to put into your college fund. People like seeing kids with that kind of initiative, and they generally are willing to oblige.|||Get a job when you turn 16.

Or, you could get a babysitting gig, do chores for neighbors, or lifeguard at your local pool.

Good luck!|||try researching scholarships so that you can start working on them now so you can have a head start when they become available to you.|||You honestly shouldn't even be thinking about that right now you havn't even gone to highschool yet! The wonderful thing about the UC schools is they are extremely affordable. Just keep your grades high and they basically throw money at you. I was accepted to UCSD and UCSB (being that I am a science kind of guy) and i had upwards of 15 thousand dollars to each school and I do zero community service or anything like that. Public universities are the only way to go|||Try PTC(pay to click) ads,

Note:Ones that pay tons of money for a short time are mostly scams. Think about it. How do they get so much money to provide the website and paying users.|||I would suggest using GreenTextbooks.org
