Does it save money to build a house and leave parts of it unfinished?

For example, building a second floor and leaving it unfinished, no bathroom, no flooring, etc? This is to save money and also because some space won't be needed right now.|||no|||It doesn't always save money but it lets you defer some costs to a later time when you may be able to afford them better. When we built our house there was a 1000 square feet of attic space. I had the sub contractors give me costs to also rough in the framing, plumbing and electrical. The differential was so small that I went ahead and had them do that part. Later, I finished the rest myself.|||Maybe at the current time you are building but of course you want to finish the job to be complete. Many folks do it later so yes it can save you right now

But later price of material can be much higher then it is now
