How can I save money on getting my property surveyed?

I need to know precisely where my property lines are. The last survey estimate I received was over 900 dollars! I can't afford that. My lot is not very big. It's approximately 116 feet x 42 feet.

Why does a property survey cost so much?

Is there a way to save money on receiving a property survey?|||Some free ways to do this would be to see if your county has access to public records through your assessors office. In Las Vegas (Clark County) I can go to their website %26amp; type in a parcel # %26amp; it'll pull up a map showing boundary lines.

You can also go to a title company, they should have enough info. about your specific parcel, down to the exact feet (width, length, etc)

Title companies are usually asked to do a Preliminary Title report which just shows a basic map of your lot %26amp; any liens on your title. Tell them specifically what you need, they should charge you very little or nothing at all.

go in saying to the title rep, that you're thinking about selling your home %26amp; want to find these things out....tell them you'll use them as your title company when you get into escrow (even if you're not going sell), saying this will make them want to help you more.|||If you already had a survey, call the same person.

Also if you have a plat, look for the metal pegs in the ground, it will show the property line.
